Please tell me
the phrase “on tap” was intentionally punny.

Really looking forward to Mo/Gracie.
Will be interesting to see how Mo uses his wrestling. I assume to keep it standing.

it better be.

Wow, great fight!
I consider Feijao to be a better fighter in just about all areas, he should take it.

This is a horrible fight. OSP needs a fight at a slightly lower level. Here comes Zuffa to knock off all the prospects.

I figured Dana, in his pettiness, would send guys to try to knock off the “name” guys at Strikeforce, but I figured the prospects would be left somewhat alone. Woodley for your boy next I suppose…

Really?
I actually thought OSP was due for a significant step up in competition. The guy is 28 and 14 fights into his MMA career, I think he’s ready for a Feijao type guy. I don’t see any point in coddling the guy.

I would tend to agree about OSP being ready to fight a guy like Feijao. It would have been nice for OSP to have one more challenger fight, but at the same time, who would he fight?
There just haven’t been enough light-heavy weight fights in SF
Babalu is the only
gatekeeper-ish kind of guy that comes to mind.

The other thing is that Strikeforce has a lack of mid-tier fighters in all of their weight classes, so there are either prospects or upper-tier fighters but no mid-tiers. OSP has beaten prospects like Britt and Humphrey, and because there are no middle-of-the-road fighters in that division anyways, he is left to fight a former Strikeforce champion in Feijao.

Actually, I would argue that Feijao IS a mid-tier guy.
I put him in the same league as guys like Luiz Cane, Jason Brilz, Brandon Vera, Vlad Matyushenko, Stephan Bonnar, etc. I don’t see him as a guy in the elite tier.
You are spot on
Feijao has one “good” win, and that was against Mo, and do we really know how good Mo is? Feijao has two other fights against top competition, KO’d by Hendo and KO’d by Kyle
It really depends on how you look at it. In the UFC, someone like Feijao may be a mid-tier fighter. However, in Strikeforce, he is a top fighter. I meant it more in terms of the hierarchy of Strikeforce.

Because anything bad that happens comes from Zuffa
And anything good that happens comes from Strikeforce. No confirmation bias here.
What? Zuffa matchmakers are running the show at Strikeforce now. That’s just fact.

Well, I hope everyone that was pushing for these mid level prospects to be tested is happy.
OSP’s going to get obliterated. Oh well.

I think you might be right, but OSP is so gifted, he might be ready for the test. This will determine that.
King Mo vs. Roger is also going to be great.
We are witnessing the last, best matchups of the SF 205 division.
They’ll probably start having cross-over fights by New year’s, so it’s going to be a fun ride.

I don't think
OSP is a better athlete than Feijao.

I'd have to see Feijao juggling soccer balls on the pitch to judge him, so I don't know...
OSP was a D1 football player at Tennessee, right? That’s a pretty good indicator of atheletic talent.
That said, I agree with Lowell’s assessment, but I’m excited to watch anyhow.

That's true,
but just from what i’ve seen of them in the cage, I don’t think OSP is noticeably faster than Rafael.

Ouch.
This will not end well for OSP.

Am I the only one who is way more excited for Mo-Gracie?
I guess there’s a chance it turns into the worst kickboxing match of all time, but I love that style matchup.

How so? Mo has striking, Roger, not so much

Mo's striking has never really impressed me
that isn’t to say its not better than Roger’s, but it isn’t good.

Roger has good striking
for a guy with his amount of MMA training. He showed a good jab against Randleman & Prangley, and actually has some good clinch knees.
Mo has good hands himself, and isn’t afraid to go to the body (although that’s what got him bitch smacked by a Feijao knee).

Lawal is a very smart guy who studies everyone…no way in hell he goes to the ground with Roger imo.

Wow, they are really anxious for OSP to take a step up.
First they wanted to give him Mo, now this? God if this falls through are they gonna sling him in there with Overeem?

A big step for OSP,
A big step for OSP, but who else really is there to fight that makes sense at this point? It’s basically another Challengers fight or something like this since Strikeforce has nothing but ex-Champions and up and comers at this point.
