Bloody Elbow Radio, presented by Bad Boy, was live Thursday afternoon for another edition of the show. Hosts Matt Bishop and Forrest Lynn talked the latest in mixed martial arts, including the reports of Nick Diaz's potential boxing endeavors, Yushin Okami finally getting his title shot against Anderson Silva, extensive talk on Strikeforce's potential July pay-per-view event, a preview of Bellator 41 and more.
We also asked him what it was like to attend last year's BET Awards.
"It was fun. It was fun, actually. We had a good group of people. Antoni Hardonk went there. Yeah, me and him, two white guys, right? He had a friend coming over from Holland, a kickboxer ... it was good. I like music, I like being part of it. It's the first time for me seeing anything like that, so it was cool."
"M.C Hammer is one of my managers right now, so why not?"
We also talked about Wednesday's first episode of UFC Primetime, featuring welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre and top challenger Jake Shields. We talked about how we thought the first show missed the mark and things we'd like to see out of future episodes. Lynn offered this suggestion:
"Hopefully next week there's some stuff with Shields and his daughter. Everything I've ever heard about Jake Shields is that he's a really devoted and loving father and he really loves his daughter. It'd be cool to see him as a father because what happens inside the cage, it's essentially the same thing for everyone. To be like a single dad MMA fighter going for the championship with all the support from his friends and family and he's doing this for his daughter, that's a human interest story. That's be cool to see. Hopefully they go that way.
"But man, St. Pierre's giving them nothing. ... The stuff with GSP was like, 'Wow, really?' You couldn't get him to talk about what fighting is like now that he's won all those fights in a row and he's made all this money, like, 'What keeps you going with all this money?' You couldn't ask him about what it's like to hear criticism from people for not finishing fights? You couldn't even get inside his head just a little bit? The Shari Spencer jaws of life are no longer attached around the guy. You could've engaged him a little bit more."
Bloody Elbow Radio returns to the air at 4 p.m. ET Tuesday to talk all the latest in MMA.
