Joe Lauzon vs. Curt Warburton Set for UFC on Versus 4
The UFC announced another lightweight bout today, that has been added to the card for UFC on Versus 4 in Pittsburgh on June 26th, with fan-favorite Joe Lauzon taking on Brit, Curt Warburton:
In lightweight news, TUF favorite Joe "J-Lau" Lauzon and Curt "The War" Warburton have agreed to throw down. Those fights will take place June 26 at UFC on Versus in Pittsburgh.
Lauzon hasn't fought since November when he suffered a submission loss to George Sotiropoulos in Detroit. Warburton, a product of the Wolfslair Academy, earned his first UFC victory in February with a hard-fought decision win over Polish prospect Maciej Jewtuzsko at UFC 127. With a packed-to-the-gills lightweight division, every fight is now a must-win at 155 lbs in the UFC.
Joe "J-Lau" Lauzon (19-6)
Loss George Sotiropoulos - submission (kimura) - UFC 123
Win Gabe Ruediger - submission (armbar) - UFC 118
Loss Sam Stout - unanimous decision - UFC 108
Curt "The War" Warburton (7-2)
Win Maciej Jewtuzsko - unanimous decision - UFC 127
Loss Spencer Fisher - unanimous decision - UFC 120
Win Tom Maguire - unanimous decision - Strike and Submit 12

If any of them lose, without a doubt they are cut.
I doubt Morecraft is cut if he loses.

I think that there really is no upside to Warburton. I know that the UFC tends to favor their fighters from the UK, but I just don’t think that they see much in Warburton similar to someone like a Paul Kelly. Also, the UFC Lightweight Division is so deep that I can imagine that the UFC has fights like this to cut some of the roster.
