didnt see ring vs fukuda

i know he clearly lost according to most people, but how did he look? i feel like hes the only guy from tuf 11 with upside to him, unless court mcgee starts to get enough skill to equal his heart

He looked ok

He just got taken down a lot.

by Skyscraperfan on Apr 11, 2011 4:38 PM EDT up reply actions

he looked horrible

the only thing offensive he did was a couple of weak leg kicks. He just stood in front of him and did nothing except taken down a couple of times. Even after losing 2 rounds the only thing Nick did was throw a couple of weak leg kicks and circle

He looked stiff

And I don’t want that getting taken out of context. Nick Ring looked pretty stiff in his fight, and it could have been the layoff or his first time fighting in the UFC. There wasn’t much pep in his strikes, he wasn’t really moving around very much and just stayed stationary, and he just didn’t seem to loosen up as the bout went on. The one from TUF 11 who looks like he has a lot of upside in my opinion is Brad Tavares.

Is there a worse handle than...

…. “The Promise” Ring?? Makes me want to puke up my mini-wheats every time.

Yes, it could be worse

Nick “The Penile” Ring

Or better,

Nick “Ring of Fire” Ring

u think if he was more gay dudes would get into the sport?

is there a large population of gay fight fans? i’m gonna assume no due to stereotypes but i seriously dont know

No I don’t think it would affect the sport one way or the other, but the way he had his hand on his hips during tuf, and the lisp, and having the nickname the promise ring, but I have never officially heard hes gay lol.

by mikeI981j on Apr 11, 2011 6:46 PM EDT up reply actions

it would actually be good for the sport.

the lisp isn’t exclusive to gays, though. his mannerisms may be effeminate, but that doesn’t mean mean anything.
in my book, gay or not, if you can fight you can compete.

He might be the UFC's Daniel Tosh

A guy where you don’t really know, but that is the idea.

I know a few friends who are gay fight fans. Not hardcore fans by any means but they’re the gym junkie type who appreciate the hard work and training that goes into it. That and the shirtless dudes.

Nice

I’d like to see a rematch between McGee and Ring at some point.

I didn't hear anything about the Gerald upset in the past.

Thats pretty impressive.

awful handle

I automatically hate any handles that “cleverly” play off a fighter’s real name.

But I can't give you this case, it don't belong to me. Besides, I've already been through too much shit this morning over this case to hand it over to your dumb ass.

The Ring v Fukuda decision might be defensible

I can’t remember. I don’t really know, I think I was upset at the time, even as a Ring fan. Either way, Ring is better than that showing, he looked AWFUL in that fight. He was gassed in seconds.

And then God created Saturn ... and he liked it, so he put a ring on it.

I don’t think it was defensible in any way whatsoever. Neither does Fightmetric. Ring was outstruck and outgrappled by a wide margin.

Probably, I only remember being upset at the time and I only watched it once. Somebody was just trying to convince me otherwise at one point and I softed my stance.

And then God created Saturn ... and he liked it, so he put a ring on it.

I was there live, and haven’t watched it since, so I may have missed something or have a slightly different perspective, but to me that is without doubt the worst decision I have ever seen in the UFC.

by MMAussie on Apr 11, 2011 9:17 PM EDT up reply actions

Sounds OK with me, all I can honestly speak to is the fact that Ring did not look like himself at all.

I hope Ring catches an L here

Nothing personal, I just wanna see him get the loss he deserved.

by simpsycho on Apr 11, 2011 8:01 PM EDT reply actions

So beat that Ring's 11-0

I’m with simpsycho…hope he gets the “L” he deserves, although I don’t see how that helps Fukuda…

Don't let my support confuse you, I am in fact a fan of the Giants.
