Im really excited for Del Rosario v Cormier

that's a great match up

both guys are on the upswing and I predict the winner goes on to great things and the loser will have to regroup.

I’m always torn when prospects fight… I kind of wish they’d jumble the fights and have Cormier vs Griggs and Del Rosario vs Oldereem.

by Pyrgz Krum on Apr 10, 2011 1:17 PM EDT up reply actions

They did Jon Jones v Bader and look how that turned out. I like this fight, I say Cormier due to his wrestling. But then Rosario has that stand up AND his sub skills.

Great fight

I agree. Why have one guy get a loss so early? Let them both fight experienced veterans in Griggs/Overeem, and it will help build both guys up. THEN let them fight!

by Fedorable on Apr 10, 2011 6:12 PM EDT up reply actions

Completely agree

It is silly to have top prospects fighting each other in a division as tissue thin as HW is.

Cant wait

Was hoping Barnett would get swapped but The Reem vs Werdum alone is worth the ticket

This card looks nuts

Overeem vs Werdun will be heated

Barnett is going to KO Rodgers Fedor style

Del Rosario will continue his tear

and Valintijin vs Griggs?!! go mutton chops, this will be a big big battle for Chad

Wow really?

I think Del Rosario is going to get manhandled by Cormier.

My whole existence is in sarcasm font.

I think Del Rosario will get dominated by Cormier.

because I am too. I really like that guy, was rooting for him in his last two fights and will too now.

Griggs is a not very good fighter who puts on a very good show.

He’s like if Leonard Garcia actually had punching power. I’ll watch that.

Except that

You have to actually land punches for punching power to come into play. I can’t remember the last time I saw Garcia actually land one of those looping whiffs.

so....

where is this being held again?

American Airlines Arena, Dallas, Texas.

by memitim on Apr 10, 2011 1:18 PM EDT via mobile up reply actions

no

He probably will be the underdog again. Just because of Oldereems name and experience, but Griggs can win this, Though it can go either way.

All the fighter pics are effed for me.

This will be a 45 minute broadcast, which is great because of less Mauro. I’m pretty sure there are going to be some nasty knock-outs also.

With respect...

… I think you are off-base by down-playing the significance of Jardine’s take-downs, and perhaps take-downs in general. Executing take-downs essentially at will as Jardine did says a couple of things:

- Jardine is controlling that part of the match. The pace, where the action is going.
- Moussasi’s lack of take-down defense is shocking for an elite fighter in 2011
- Not doing damage on the ground or keeping a man on the match does not deduct points

Moussasi did not dominate Jardine and he should have. A judge shouldn’t consider that, but they should consider what dominance looks like in any match. Jardine was evasive and decent with kicks early in the match. His most significant offense was his take-downs. He did A LOT of them.

Unfortunately, Jardine bleeds easily and it always looks bad even if no real damage has been done. Hopefully the judges understood that.

That being said, I don’t see round three as a tie. Moussasi should have won.

Ironically, I felt that Moussasi was robbed in the King Mo fight. His offensive from the bottom was devastating. Mo look like a pulverized tenderloin after the match. I felt that they gave King Mo the match because of his take downs, and they shouldn’t have.

This would be a great card to return to CBS with.

If… you know… Zuffa hadn’t banned CBS from covering the Showtime ones…

You must be unaware that they actually don’t.

Or that CBS didn’t cover last night’s event because Zuffa would credential their reporter.

by John Nash on Apr 10, 2011 2:52 PM EDT up reply actions

I don’t think Dana Cares.

When he’s ready to push on a major network it’s not like this event will matter.

by Roaringblood on Apr 10, 2011 3:03 PM EDT up reply actions

You mean like when the Spike contract is up in a year

and Zuffa just burned a bridge with a major network that, at the very least, could have been used for leverage in negotiations? Right!

Oh, by the way, Dana owns less than 10% of the company. It’s not his decision when they go to a network. At all.

CBS Coproation owns Showtime...

The channel CBS might not technically own them, but they are all part of the same company. Also, not giving press credentials to a writer of CBS does not mean that Zuffa is saying not to CBS covering anything it is saying no to that writer covering anything. Unless they tried to get someone else credentials which I don’t believe they did that has nothing to do with CBS in my mind.

by MPDevils on Apr 10, 2011 5:42 PM EDT up reply actions

right...

it’s Zuffa’s fault that CBS hasn’t put on a Strikeforce card in a year.

This is going to be a fun card

Sadly I’m the most excited for the Griggs/Overeem fight. How can you not love a guy like Griggs who keeps refusing to lose the matches he’s supposed to be losing?

by Confucius on Apr 10, 2011 2:58 PM EDT reply actions

God

I can’t wait to see Overeem on a bigger stage showing what he can do.

by Roaringblood on Apr 10, 2011 3:02 PM EDT reply actions

Yeah man, Valentijn is a real killer, very underrated fighter. But I think his impressive submission victory over the always dangerous Ray Sefo really turned some heads, hope the trend continues with this fight.
