SBN coverage of Bellator 35

Brent Weedman vs. Dan Hornbuckle

Round 1 -  Weedman goes for a kick, Hornbuckle catches it and takes Weedman down.  Hornbuckle into half guard, then loses it.  Hornbuckle going for a triangle.  Weedman looks to be bleeding already.  Weedman in Hornbuckle's guard, Hornbuckle is doing a good job of holding his wrists.  Hornbuckle going for another triangle but hasn't quite got it and lets it go again.  They're back up now.  Weedman lands a good kick to the body.  They clinch against the cage and trade some knees.  Weedman throws Hornbuckle, and goes for an armbar.  Hornbuckle survives and that's the round.  I give it to Hornbuckle, 10-9.

Round 2 -  Hornbuckle clinches Weedman against the cage and throws some knees that don't do much.  Weedman with some kicks that would be nasty if they would land.  Hornbuckle lands a couple of good knees, Weedman throws another kick and falls.  Hornbuckle follows him down and takes his back.  Weedman turns into it, but Hornbuckle sweeps him.  Weedman goes for a heelhook but Hornbuckle doesn't seem worried.  They're tied up on the ground while Weedman keeps trying for that submission.  He finally gives it up, and moves to side control.  Weedman gets full mount.  Hornbuckle gives up his back, Weedman goes for the rear naked, but the round ends.  I have that one 10-9 Weedman.

Round 3 -  They start out trading some good kicks.  They clinch, and Hornbuckle again attacks with several knees while Weedman just tries to get loose.  They go to the ground and Weedman is working for a kimura,  Hornbuckle gets out and takes Weedman's back.  Both fighters look tired at this point.  Weedman turns, Hornbuckle almost has an arm triangle if he can get into position.  He lets it go though.   Weedman throws some good shots from off his back, but the round ends.  I have that round 10-9 Hornbuckle.

The judges don't agree with me, and give it to Weedman.  Apparently the crowd didn't like the result, either.

Brent Weedman def. Dan Hornbuckle by unanimous decision, 29-28

Rick Hawn vs. Jim Wallhead

Round 1 - Hawn brings it immediately, throwning wild strikes and driving Wallhead back into the cage.  They trade some vicious strikes and kicks for a bit.  Hawn's movement and aggression are much better than Wallhead's so far.  Wallhead lands a few good shots, but Hawn keeps throwing good combos.  Wallhead is looking like the rookie in this round.  End of the round, I give it to Hawn 10-9.

Round 2 - They're trading strikes, Wallhead catches Hawn with a leg kick and almost knocks him down.  Again Hawn is throwing more and better combos.  They continue to trade, Wallhead finally goes for a takedown but can't get it.  Wallhead clinches Hawn against the cage then lets it go.  End of the round, again I have it 10-9 Hawn.

Round 3 - More boxing.  Hawn has slowed down a bit, and Wallhead seems to be a little more active now.  Wallhead looks to be cut.  Hawn gets a takedown, Wallhead doing a good job of keeping him tied up.  They're back on their feet, and Hawn continues to out-strike Wallhead.  End of the round.  10-9 Hawn again.  But who knows what the judges saw?

Rick Hawn def. Jim Wallhead by unanimous decision: 29-28, 29-28, 30-27

Jay Hieron vs. Anthony Lapsley

Round 1 - Lapsley moves forward, Hieron catches him against the cage, they hit the ground.  Hieron goes for a triangle but lets it go, they stand.  Again Lapsley drives forward and they go to the ground.  Hieron ends up on top.  Heiron takes Lapsley's back, Lapsley spins around though.  Hieron has the mount and lands some decent punches.  Lapsley gives up his back, Hieron goes for the rear naked.  The ref calls it!  Lapsley is furious!  He was awake and seemed fine.  Jay Hieron def. Anthony Lapsley via technical submission (rear naked choke) at 3:39 of round 1.

Chris Lozano vs. Lyman Good

Round 1 - They circle for a bit, Good rushes in for a quick almost-clinch then backs off.  They trade a few shots.  Good has landed a few punches to Lozano's face and it shows.  Lozano is doing a lot of backing up.  He is landing some really nasty looking leg kicks though.  They continue to trade sporadically.  And the round ends, I would probably give it to Good 10-9 just for more accurate striking.

Round 2 - Good clinches Lozano against the cage, Lozano throws some good knees before they break.  Lozano comes in swinging wild, and Good catches him against the cage again.  Shoulder punches from Good.  Again they break, and Good lands a couple of really good shots which rock Lozano a bit.  And Good gets Lozano against the cage again and lands a couple of knees to Lozano's thigh.  Ref breaks them up.  Lozano's left eye is shut.  Good gets a great takedown as the round ends.  10-8 Good to me.  The doc is checking Lozano's eye but I think they're letting the fight go on.

Round 3 - Good goes for a takedown immediately and gets it.  Lozano goes for a guillotine but Good escapes.  Lozano throws Good, goes for another guillotine, Good slips out.  Nice exchange ending with Good clinching Lozano against the cage again.  They go to the ground, Good is landing some good shots while Lozano is down.  Lozano gets to his feet but is against the cage again.  Lozano tries for a single but can't get it.  Good gets Lozano with a knee to the face.  They go to the ground again, Good takes Lozano's back and has both hooks in.  No time for the rear naked, the fight is over.  That round was Good, 10-9, to me.

Lyman Good def. Chris Lozano by unanimous decision, 29-28, 30-27, 30-27
