M-1 Global Denies Fedor Emelianenko Cut From Strikeforce Contract

Stay connected for news and updates

Earlier today a rumor spread through the MMA community that Russian legend Fedor Emelianenko had been cut from his Strikeforce contract. The move would have likely ended Emelianenko's career on the sport's largest stage. The Russian website LifeSports.ru reported the news this morning saying:

Business owners UFC and Strikeforce have refused to renew the contract with the world champion in MMA heavyweight Fedor Emelianenko.

M-1 Global official Evgeni Kogan immediately denied the report and they issued this strong statement to Bloody Elbow:

"It's unfortunate that the site (LifeSports.ru) has shown little to no journalistic integrity; this is also not the first time their writers have fabricated a story to create attention. Quite simply, it should be ignored. Should there ever be a change in Fedor's status, rest assured that M-1 would provide an official position."

Fedor is currently training in Holland with kickboxing legend Ernesto Hoost. He is expected back in action this summer for Strikeforce.
