#12 Brendan Schaub separated Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic from consciousness at UFC 128 and also knocked him out of the top 25 for the first time since we began compiling these rankings.
#20 Mike Russow thrashed #24 Jon Madsen for two rounds at UFC Fight Night 24 to force a between rounds stoppage.
#2 Fabricio Werdum was slated to rematch #7 Alistair Overeem on Strikeforce's April 9 card, but that was apparently not to be. That card was also going to feature #15 Josh Barnett vs. #14 Brett Rogers, but that fight has been postponed as well.
#7 Frank Mir will face #11 Roy Nelson at UFC 130 in a battle of two of the UFC's premier heavyweight jiu jitsu practitioners.
#4 Brock Lesnar and #3 Junior dos Santos are set to be the coaches on season 13 of The Ultimate Fighter after which they will headline UFC 131. #6 Shane Carwin's opponent that night was finally announced as the unranked Jon Olav Einemo.
Based on the premise that all MMA rankings are subjective but that it’s still useful and informative to know who the online MMA community as a whole ranks as the best fighters in MMA, we collect and average the rankings of the top MMA websites to produce our consensus rankings. We compile the top MMA rankings from each of our sources and award 25 points for a first place ranking, 16 for a 10th place ranking, 1 for a 25th place ranking. A formula is used to "normalize" the data so all fighters are awarded points from those lists that do not include a full 25 fighters. This formula ensures that each ranking site awards the same number of total points regardless of how many fighters they choose to rank. Each fighter’s total is divided by the number of possible points to determine their standing in the Consensus Rankings.
