Video: Brock Lesnar on ESPN SportsCenter

Former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar stopped by ESPN SportsCenter this morning to talk to Hannah Storm about his tenure as one of this season's coaches for The Ultimate Fighter on Spike TV. Lesnar talks about losing his title, his plans to get the belt back from champ Cain Velasquez and Junior dos Santos, the man standing in his way. The new season of The Ultimate Fighter will debut on Spike TV tomorrow night at 9 p.m. ET.
"I just need to get more comfortable. I've been thrown to the wolves; I wouldn't have it any other way."

"(dos Santos) is a tough match-up. I'm facing a guy with heavy hands. I'm going to have to come in and force myself to be comfortable. Win this fight, get another change to face Cain Velasquez and get my title back. That's my mission."

"Junior dos Santos look out, here I come."

Was just about to post that.

First time where MMA Ultimate Fighting on ESPN didn’t seem…weird. Props! And yeah, I’d hit it.

Co-signed

Maybe my expectations are low, but it’s as if they actually did research, and asked relevant questions. Hannah Storm is a good broadcaster in general, but I was surprised how well she and the producers handled an MMA interview.

Tatum: I think he's a good man. I like him. I got nothing against him, but I'm definitely gonna make orphans of his children.

Agreed, this was a good short interview. Brock is representing himself well.

I was also very positively surprised. Granted, I don’t have ESPN in my country so I don’t know what they’re usually up to, but that was a very good interview with relevant questions.

Never made the Vikings...

he was one of the last guys cut from training camp… which is pretty amazing.

Really? I thought I read where he said he did make it but didn’t get along with teammates or learning the playbook or something.

Mike Tice, the coach at the time, said that Brock had a lot of potential, but that he needed the roster spots for guys that could play “now”. He thought Brock could have developed into a pro player though.

what you're probably remembering is

his line of “unfamiliarity with the playbook and starting fights”, which is fairly close. That said, Fokman and Redravi are exactly right, he was on the last round of cuts and Tice had good things to say about his athleticism. The NFL isn’t for people who are learning, however.

did anyone else catch that he almost said the almighty dollar after she asked him what would it take to go back to wrestling

Yeah I thought that was what he said and came here to have it confirmed.....

…he caught himself and said “I should never say never, but after I retire there is a possibility”

Interesting response……

I fear it wouldn't be

I doubt Brock could control Big Foot and with his BJJ he probably subs Brock out if he doesn’t KO him first and I’m a huge Brock fan.

I like how he said he "needs to get comfortabel"

It’s pretty much the only way he can openly say “I need to learn to take a punch”. If he truly does believe that he will be getting hit plenty in practice to adjust to it.
