Insert obligatory 'this is good for the mainstream growth of the sport' comment.
Maybe it’s just me, but I think we’ve all been listening to DW interviews too much.
i wont insert that comment
because its not true. this interview isnt bad for mma, but it didnt do anything for it either. i like brock, but this brief/forced interview only held the attention of people that are already into mma, where as tje bones jones interview i feel did some good for mma in general. i was watching the bones interview with two other people that dont watch mma at all, my girlfriend and her best friend. and they were legit interested in jonny’s story/looks/demeanor.
this was kind of… blah…

wow, how could i have not have entertained that notion myself… now that you mention it… thats exactly why i thought the interview was beneficial to mma as well. because he was half naked and ive always been wondering ‘what its like’
thanks for clearing that up, im gonna go hammer out some knuckle children to pictures of bobby lashley now.

Fallon’s audience is hardly the same demographic as MMA. The fact that new people are being exposed to the sport is a good thing, regardless of what you think of the interview.
Part of me thinks it's a good thing that MMA gets more exposure.
Part of me thinks that an interview full of tongue-in-cheek ‘lol @ big dumb cagefighters’ jokes means nothing to MMA’s popularity in the long run.

exactly
now mind you with the jon jones interview had he not had the superhero story to tell, it may have (read: would have) gone much differently. jones came off as a personable good person, and even better he didnt come off as an ego maniac as we all know he is (im a fan, but lets not deny it people). im not saying fallons interview was bad for mma, i just dont think it was as beneficial as the interview on leno.

it also doesnt hurt
that bones wanted to be there, and brock we all know could give a shit less about stuff like that. hes not that kind of guy. im sure these interviews he does are part of his contract to promote TUF.

I thought Brock did a good job

Same here.
I thought Brock came off as pretty down to earth and he showed he had a decent sense of humor.

Agreed
Brock did awesome and I’ve never been a fan of his. If he handles the show in a similar fashion I might actually end up liking the guy when the whole thing is over. Same thing happened with me after Tito Ortiz coached a few years back.

He seems more humble lately and he’s gotten away from the “Billy Bad Ass” WWE persona that he’d been trying to keep up.

Cain did us all a favor by beating a little humility into him.

I think Brock started that trend before the Cain fight. I think stomach acid beat humility into him.

Fair enough
or maybe it was Carwin. I am not a Brock fan, but has seemed like a different (better) guy since the time of the Carwin fight.
Which isn’t going to rob me of the enjoyment of watching JDS stomp him.

Fallon has the best band.
Decent interview. I cant wait till he “locks horns” =P with Dos Santos.
Mike Goldberg: "You know Joe, When Matt and his brother Mark Hughes were growing up, they would pound each other behind the barn."
Good interview
I thought it was a good interview, couple of positives to take away. First I would bet that of the late night hosts Jimmy has the most similar demographic to MMA. Second there is no doubt Brock knows how to do some promotion, the reversal and his lead out (not sure if that is the industry term) were great and looked natural.
Bit at the end was pretty good.
I’d really like to see an MMA guy show something other than a rear naked on one of these shows. I know, safety first, logistically it’s the simplest, etc. but a little variety would be nice. Maybe a guillotine or something.

just what i was thinking (about the rear naked choke)
fallon looked scared at the start of the interview
by phantom5691 on Mar 29, 2011 10:11 AM EDT up reply actions
He looked scared through the whole thing.
Seemed like there was supposed to be a bit more to the bit about the sword tattoo (like a more obvious dick joke) but he didn’t go through with it. Lots of nervous laughter too. Brock is an intimidating son of a bitch, that’s for sure.

Heh, fine. I’d be fine with either type of guillotine, really. Let’s ask Dan Miller to demonstrate his standing guillotine on Conan. I’d love to see that.
And then Conan dies and we're back to the dark ages.
Sounds fun.

I can’t stand Fallon, but at least he gives MMA some love.

nice walkout music
slight remix from Brock’s WWE titantron entrance
So let me get this straight: the WWE has gone from the powerful "Austin 3:16" to the dominant and iconic "Can you smell what the Rock is cooking?" all the way to... (cue baby voice) "You can't see me." Oh, believe me, we all can see you. A blind-folded, sleeping, stuck in the basement, Stevie Wonder can see your monkey ass. - The Rock
