Shayna Baszler used the twister submission three years ago at the third ShoXC event against Keiko Tamai. The linked videos (below) show Baszler get the win against Tamai with a twister early in the first round of their fight.

Yes, I was suprised no one else mentioned this. I know it was the first Twister I had ever seen in MMA.

Keren, I think it had more to do with the fact that it happened on a card positively no one watched at the time. The only way I found out about it was from an article on Sherdog, and from there I found the video.

This is true, however, it seems that many sites, including this one, are acting as if it’s the greatest submission ever done. While it is an awesome submission, it’s not the first. No one has even given Baszler a mention.
