In the final match of the free Facebook preliminaries, Mike Russow handed Jon Madsen his first career loss after the fight doctor stopped the action in between the second and third round.

It wasn't pretty, but Russow was the aggressor for much of the fight, constantly moving forward and looking to land his big right hand.  Madsen had trouble getting inside with his reach disadvantage but countered decently when Russow overcommitted.

The second round was rather lackluster as Russow clinched Madsen repeatedly and forced multiple referee separations. The crowd wasn't appreciative of the pace and rained boos on both fighters. Madsen's left eye began to swell early in the round and by the time the horn sounded, his left eye was completely closed shut.

After taking a close look at Madsen's eye, the doctor waved his hands and put a halt to the fight, giving Russow an uninspiredTKO victory.

Madsen had quietly gone 4-0 in his previous UFC fights, notably stopping Gilbert Yvel in less than two minutes at UFC 121 this past October.

Russow's claim to fame was his performance at UFC 114 where he was Todd Duffee's punching bag for 2 1/2 rounds before scoring a flash knockout of the much-hyped prospect.
