Yeah . . . ugly, kneejerk homophobia

just what the sport needs…

It's not homophobia

If anything it’s anthropophagy.

There is literally nothing homophobic about that tweet.

Forcing somebody to suck dick is degrading. Male or female. All the haters. Not “hey guys, be subjected to gay stuff.”

…sure spend a lot of time with their shirts off!

wow! i know this will probably change by tomorrow but...

Hardy looks much bigger than Rumble. Hope Hardy destroys him. Would love to see Hardy submit him on the ground.
Rumble would be all like " i thought we was gonna stand and bang" and “we don’t like that rolling around on the mat shiz. Damn I though we were gonna give the fans what they want”
Hardy would be like. “we did, I beat your ass”

Seriously, I just don’t see Hardy disrespecting the ground game and the importance of it. Not after what GSP did to him. Not after Condit KO’d him.

I forgot if hardy looses this one it will be three in a row. I’m going for jhonson but I don’t want to see him cut for three in a row.

by mikeI981j on Mar 26, 2011 5:14 AM EDT up reply actions

3 in a row is a big deal and that's what worries me.

Hardy is a good WW, not great mind you, but very good.
I’m worried he will feel forced into a “brawl” so if he loses he still makes a case to stay on the roster.
If he loses and gets cut I could easily see him going to Bamma and KotC, getting a few wins and coming back.

Not UFC material

In my opinion, Hardy is a gatekeeper at best — definitely not UFC material though. 3 of his last 4 wins were by decision, he’s lost 2 straight, and his wrestling is pretty terrible. I think he could use a stint in the minors.

by High Knee Destroyer on Mar 26, 2011 5:32 AM EDT up reply actions

ranked in or around the top 10 for awhile.

sorry dude, but if you’re in the top 25 w/ the way the MMA landscape being what it is the idea of him not being in the UFC is completely ludicrous.
besides if they do not keep the gatekeepers they lose their litmus tests for up and coming fighters.

Hardy’s had an unrealistically high ranking ever since shortly before being offered the title shot. I don’t feel he’s a top 10 fighter.

by OmoPlata on Mar 26, 2011 11:02 AM EDT up reply actions

Agreed about the current ranking.

he’s easily in the top 25 and therefore deserves to be in the UFC. that’s really really the just of my comment.

He’s admitted he didn’t take Condit seriously last time out. Entirely his own fault and no excuse what so ever, but 2 on the bounce isn’t the end of the world. As for 3 of his last 4 being decisions, a win is a win yet he still does it in exciting fashion. I know it’s an age old argument but I’d rather watch Hardy fight his way to a decision over Jon Fitch.
If he does lose and is cut he’ll do what Daley did, stroll through people in the likes of Bamma and return, although I’m rooting for a Hardy finish.
Judging by the pictures, Rumbles weight cut was tough, if He doesn’t catch dan early I think there’s a chance he finishes rumble late in the fight.

Remember: Strikeforce is still around

And it will remain there for at least several months if not longer. So he could easily go there.

Agreed re: Rumble's cut

It’s very telling when it is deemed a success that a fighter simply made weight. The Goal is to be able to make weight, AND properly train for the upcoming challenge, not just make weight and be in pretty good shape to silence the “haters”.

by OmoPlata on Mar 26, 2011 11:04 AM EDT up reply actions

ROFL these Hardy haters on the interwebz amuse me to no end. I’ve never understood it, I assume its just the “MMA isnt a sport, its a church for the purity of sport where everyone is humble ahead of time and hugs afterwards” crowd that dont like him. He makes fights with his trash talk, he fights in an exciting style, and never makes excuses when he loses. What else do you want??

by Hutchy on Mar 26, 2011 9:50 AM EDT up reply actions

I don't hate Hardy

I just think he belongs in Strikeforce.

by High Knee Destroyer on Mar 26, 2011 12:21 PM EDT up reply actions

Rumble has some good wrestling. Not Kos’ level, but who does. Hardy doesn’t want to be on the ground with him.

Now, if Rumble is smart, all that talk about keeping it on the feet and no “rolling around on the mat shiz” is just that – talk. Stand and bang if you want, but take him down periodically for some GnP.

He said “eat a mutha fuckin dick”, but kudos for putting your own personal spin on it.

Not that I condone facism or any ism for that matter. Isms are in my opinion, not good. A person shouldn't believe in an ism, he should believe in himself.

I quote John Lennon, "I don't believe in Beatles, I just believe in me". Good point there, after all he was the walrus. I could be the walrus. Wouldn't change the fact I have to bum rides off of people.

Maybe

he was speaking from experience :)

Hardy should not get cut even if he does lose this fight.Who you are losing to should be the main factor and losing to GSP,then to two top contenders hardly means you are done and don’t deserve a chance to rebuiild.

by Matt Mosley on Mar 26, 2011 7:30 AM EDT up reply actions

cept Johnson is not a contender

Yes

he is.
Why would he be fighting Hardyt if he wasn’t.
Before the Koscheck loss he was highly regarded.Him and Hardy are only just outside the top 10.
That’s still in contention.

by Matt Mosley on Mar 26, 2011 7:33 AM EDT up reply actions

My point is

that Hardy has had three very tough fights in a row.
He should get at least one more chance if he loses this.

by Matt Mosley on Mar 26, 2011 7:38 AM EDT up reply actions

agreed, he should get another chance even if he loses

as far as contender is concerned, not so much IMHO. Ellenberger, Pyle, Foster, Kim are just a few of the others that are still a little ways off of being contenders but are still easily ahead of Johnson right now.

they need someone else aside from bisping for the uk market, plus he is always in entertaining fights.

by vicesquad26 on Mar 26, 2011 8:00 AM EDT up reply actions

I agree, I can’t see a realistic scenario where Hardy gets cut after this fight. He will likely get something of a lay-up for his next fight or two through (and should).

winner of this fight should get the winner of Story/Alves

losers should get each other also

I agree to a degree

If it is Story (as I expect), then I think they will be kept on separate tracks. If it is Alves/Hardy somehow as winners, then Rumble/Story would be good as well.

Personally, I think any of those 3 beat Hardy though and he will have to be put in a situation where he is more likely to win first. Dan is a fun, exciting fighter, provided he is matched up well.

Makes me wonder why he appeared to be such a dick (“I don’t like Wilkes coz his family aren’t poor enough!”) on TUF
