This is a special guest post from Donna of Gal's Guide to MMA.
The new King of Predictions app for the iPhone gives those of us who own this shrine to Steve Job's brilliance another reason to feel superior to the rest of the population. King of Predictions is an app that allows MMA fans to predict the outcome of upcoming UFC and Strikeforce events. But gaining the title of King isn't done easily. Not only must you pick the winner of each fight, but the method and round as well. So, for instance, it's not enough to know that Amir Sadollah is going to beat DaMarques Johnson at Fight Night 24. You also have to predict in what round (the 2nd) and by what method (TKO) he's going to do it.
King of Predictions is based on a 4-point must system. You get two points for choosing the correct winner, and one point each for the correct method and round. A decision is worth two points. The app lets you build a friend list and challenge them via email. Once in Event Mode, you get real time results that show your position in relation to the friends you've challenge. I can't really comment on this aspect of the app, since FN 24 hasn't happened yet, and I have no friends to challenge. You have to pay to access some of the events, but I was able to access Fight Night 24 for free.
One thing I wish they'd change is the fact that once you submit your picks they can't be changed. I've often had a change of heart about my fight picks, and I'd like the ability to make some changes. I'd also like to see more promotions featured as well. Right now you can only access UFC and Strikeforce events, and I know quite a few people who would love to prove their Bellator prowess.
