my funny comment
was wasted on the post that no one is reading anymore… and it wasnt even that funny…
so… blah blah blah something humorous
i think he did a good job though. he was a little jittery, but he settled in well. it was a little painful hearing him tell the story again almost word for word. but i dont blame him, im sure so many people have asked that tis basically a script now. good thing for mma all in all though, i was surprised he kept his ego in check so well

I was surprised he kept his ego in check so well
Maybe that’s because he doesn’t have that much of an ego to begin with? Up until a month ago, nobody thought he had a crazy ego, it’s only when he started to say that he felt he was better than Shogun everywhere and that he knew deep down he’d win that everyone started saying he’s got a big ego. I just don’t buy it. If he’s got a big ego, everyone else in the UFC has one too.
I wouldn’t argue that point.
It is now a fact that Jones is cocky, arrogant and has a huge ego. Everyone from his mother and father to Rashad Evans feels that his heads has reached Tito Ortiz proportions. Jones trash talking would make James Toney blush.
I don’t know, I expect more detailed analysis into the misbehavior, arrogance and ego of a 23 years old fighter in the near future.
End note: Yushin Okami recently said that ANderson Silva will fall. He stated that he will be the new MW champion. Okami’s ego is really, really going out of control. I can’t believe he would say such atrocious, disrespectful things. He doesn’t even have the belt yet. OMG.

Please tell some of the trash talk he was saying about Shogun I would love to hear it.

me too . . . me too.
I don’t recall anything that was extraordinary, Tyson-esque, Sonnen-esque.
Most of the stuff that he said was pretty much light-hearted fodder for the media.
Some collars got ruffled when he said he was signing autographs 2011 champion. That’s about it. I understand he apologized to Eduardo Alonso, explaining he was just selling the fight which I thought he did so well.

Thank You.
People are like “oh Jones was trash talking like no other leading to this fight.” I want one person so tell me one negative thing he said about Shogun, or his champ, or anything. The only thing that was disrespectful was signing his name champion 2011, that is all.

The problem is they let their hate color perception.
If what he said was light hearted and mild those that hate on him would say he is the most cocky SOB since Cassius Clay exclaimed which round he would win his fights.

There it is. I agree that he’s cocky, he’s a 23 year old elite athlete, that’s just standard. I don’t think he’s disrespectful, or a bad guy in the slightest. But he’ll get verbally mauled henceforth, much as his predecessor Tim Tebow, who came to prepare the way to his glory:) I’m a huge fan, and it’s just awesome to see a next level fighter emerge at a young age. It’s going to be a really fun ride, and much like Georges did at WW, Jon will force his division to up their game.

i disagree, and i love me some jonny hellbows. its the little things he says that push it over the top. like at the post fight interview he said he was ‘surpised to come out and get a louder crowd reaction than a legend’ which on the surface is all true, but truely humble people dont openly point stuff like this out. hes patting himself on the back. in no way am i saying he doesnt deserve these ‘atta boys’ he gives himself, theyre just a wee but pompous. to be fair, if i were given the same talent, fame, and money at the age hes at, i would be much worse in the same shoes… i have no doubt.

Great exposure regardless, and he carried himself well.
Slightly painful to watch and I gaurantee he catches lip from his wife when he gets home, being a star gets to your head real quick

It's a tangent, but
when PrideFC came out of PS3, they were having a tourney on opening day at the local Gamestop. I had a demo, so I practiced for weeks and my friends and I smoked a jib and went to the store for the tourney (I even wore a jogging suit and had a towel around my neck).
Anyways, I was the only loser that showed for the tourney so they just gave me a free copy of the game. So there’s that.

LOL, A pride-fc tourney that's hardcore.
Ok, I got one like this. When Dead or alive 2 came out (the japanese version) we were all gathered at the store waiting for the shipment to arrive and it was on the way. But it became obvious there wouldn’t be enough copies for everyone. So the employee just organized a soul calibur tourney, on all the dreamcasts, just like that on the spot, to decide who would get the game.
Boys becoming men...Men becoming wolves
I know this is a lie, for one because you said PrideFC on the ps3, which it never came out for. Secondly you said gamestop gave you a free copy, which is the most damning, since gamestop never gives anything out for free, just gives you the illusion you are getting something free.
I don’t doubt you were the only one to show up though, i had 3 people show up to my UFC tourney. A kid who button mashed beat a grown man who was trying really hard, talk about hilarious!

Maybe he did mean PS2, but in my experience gamestop never gave away a thing for free. But good story regardless.

Pimp suit. Clean cut. Well spoken. All around great showing for himself and MMA. I love that he came across as a very intelligent fighter. I just wish he would have cut down his story a but, probably becuase I had already heard it. Also loved how Leno just let him explain MMA and what arts he’s learned.

The suit has a nice tailored cut but who ever allowed him to go on camera with the checkered shirt, dotted tie, and that handkerchief should be fired. Pimp suit, nah, not even close.
The foundation make-up is a little bit unnerving but I understand that its television.

Yep.
That’s all that kept running through my mind when I looked at Jones’s attire. I definitely prefer the suit look over a t-shirt and jeans (at least for this appearance – it gives MMA a good “face” to the public), but the dots and checkers and everything hurt my eyes.

Also, it didn’t show it in the clip there, but in the original airing, it was great that Leno introduced Jones as being really athletic. It’s important people see these guys as athletes, and I think this whole interview went very well.
Yeah I wonder why they didn’t show his intro? =/ The belt looked mighty nice!

for a 23 year old thrust so quickly into the spotlight. I think some of the criticism from other posters is unwarranted, I think he did a great job representing himself and the sport.

I thought the stuff about his mom was pretty funny. I always joke about getting my spanking hand ready because I hadn’t served up a good spanking in a while and it’s good for the health to spank. Then I practice a few times spanking my leg, then I tell one of the kids to come over here and they just roll their eyes.
