Bloody Elbow Radio, presented by Bad Boy, was live Thursday afternoon to talk all the latest in mixed martial arts. Hosts Matt Bishop, Forrest Lynn and Mike Fagan previewed the weekend in MMA, including UFC Fight Night 24 and Bellator 38.
We were first joined by a long-time fan favorite, "The New York Bad Ass" Phil Baroni. Baroni, who fights Nick Nolte tonight at Titan Fighting Championship 17, talked about that fight, his future in the sport and more. It was a very interesting interview. Among other things, he discussed how he ended up with Titan.
"I had promotions looking to pick me up, but I hired Monte Cox on as my manager and he pointed me toward Titan. The guy's been around for years and knows what he's doing and had been over here a couple times with his guys. Titan, they're the real deal. They're real good guys and Joe Kelly and his crew might be future big-time promoters in this sport. They definitely run a good organization. It's definitely organized and well run."
Then we were joined by M-1 Global Director of Operations Evgeni Kogan to discuss M-1 Challenge 24 on Showtime, M-1's aspirations and more. He also talked about his brief dispute on Twitter with MMA Fighting's Ariel Helwani.
"The only thing I'd like to say about it is that I think it drew attention, maybe a lot of attention, to the event. I think that's a positive. At the end of the day, that's what we're trying to do, we're trying to market the event. I think a lot of people who didn't know prior to our little dispute, they know now about Friday night. ... At the end of the day it's a positive."
Bloody Elbow Radio returns to the air immediately following Saturday's UFC Fight Night to review the show.
