Today's video includes highlgihts from the event as well as the post-fight press conference. Jon Jones' brother Arthur Jones talks to Dustin about his brother's performance and plans for the future.

Full transcription below:

25 secs, UFC 128 video recap

1:12, Jones on his family watching: "It meant the world to me to have my family here. I'm from a long, long, long family tree of people who pray and believe in their prayers, so I knew that I would have a lot of support and a lot of positive energy going my way. It felt good. I could even feel it in the crowd tonight. When I came out, to get a louder cheer than such a legend, was an honor."

1:33, Dana White on Jones' day: "Lady gets robbed in the park, he chases the guy down and apprehends him until the police come 2 hours before the show. Goes out and dominates Shogun. The only thing left to do is deliver a baby on the way outta here or something. I don't know what else this guy can do in a day."

1:50, Urijah Faber on Jones: "I told him before the fighthe could be a mix between Jordan and Muhammad Ali for our sport."

1:55, Dana White on Jones vs Shogun: "Huge experience gap here between these two. He looked like a 10 year professional tonight. He took his time, did what he wanted to do. People said he wouldn't do the flashy stuff with Shogun. He did more flashy stuff tonight than I've ever seen him do or any other guy in mixed martial arts. It was a pretty incredible performance."

2:14, Arthur Jones, Ravens defensive tackle, on his brother: "I'm just excited. I'm excited. Right after he won his fight, I told him 'You just gotta keep your head on right. It's not about being a champion, it's about keepin' it.' He's a smart guy. I'm sure he's gonna do the right thing."

2:44, Brendan Schaub on his fight with Cro Cop: "Mirk likes to set his feet before he kicks. In rounds 1 & 2, I was kinda movin' so he couldn't get his kicks off or I'd counter the kicks right away, but not with big shots. I knew I had to get a finish in the 3rd round. I'd talked all that stuff about how this isn't going the distance and then midway through the 3rd round I'm like 'C'mon man.' So, I just planted my feet like 'forget this let's do it.' I saw him about to kick, so I just anticipated and landed the big right hand."

3:11, Schaub on kick's living up to expectation: "Yeah, and more. It definitely rung my bell. I have a headache now just from blocking them. I rally didn't get hit with them, but they were powerful man, so fighting a legend I expect this stuff."

3:24, Schaub on where he belongs in the HW ranking: "I think this puts me somewhere in the top 6 of the division. There's some monster lurking out there and I gotta get back to the room and get better man. I wasn't satisfied with my performance and it's just back to the grind for me."

3:50, Jones on apprehending the robber: "So he's down on the floor and I'm thinking like 'I hope I don't get stabbed right now.' So I'm just lookin' at him like 'Should I ground-n-puond him?' And Greg Jackson just comes outta nowhere and jumps on the guys back, and he starts speaking Spanish like 'greebudabda.' You know. I'm like 'You know Spanish?!' So I'm like, 'Lemme do somethin!'"

Yeah...

I want to see Schaub’s top 10.

In the “UFC’s” heavyweight division, which puts him around Roy Nelson/Frank Mir level.

Schaub is not on that level. Nelson just came off a title eliminator.

Out of current UFC heavyweights on the consensus rankings Schaub is the 8th highest ranked, Mir and Nelson are the 6th and 7th highest ranked. He may be thinking he’s higher than he is but he’s not exagerating by that much.

See, that was indicative of me assuming you meant talent-wise, even though this was clearly about rankings. I am an idiot and you are a scholar and a gentleman. Or gentlewoman.

Yea there is a big experience difference between being the 6th best heavyweight in the UFC and the 8th best heavyweight in the UFC. I have to wonder if Schaub is trying to get the winner of Mir vs Nelson?

by who me on Mar 22, 2011 12:58 PM EDT up reply actions

I just rewatched the fight
Huge experience gap here between these two

It is 100% clear that Shogun was not himself tonight, he took this fight way to early. If you watch both his fights with Lyoto Machida then you’ll notice that he was being held back by something. This last surgery dramatically affected this fight. His career has been plagued with injuries and we may never know how this fight could have turned out.

I wish death upon no one, but not all deserve to live.

by spookon3 on Mar 21, 2011 6:29 PM EDT reply actions

as a huge Shogun fan I don’t really know if a 100% healthy Shogun would have beaten Jones that night. I think he would have lost a decision.

He did look off though. I really hope that is the last of his surgeries and that he comes back healthy and one day gets a rematch. Still a lot of good fights for him if he is healthy enough.

by Tats16 on Mar 21, 2011 6:41 PM EDT up reply actions

You don’t think having a huge adrenaline rush/dump after chasing down a crminal had any ill effects towards jones? I mean sure the fight may have turned out differently. But we also don’t know if it was shoguns knees that were making him look off. Or the fact that he was fighting a physical specimen in jones that’s near impossible to train for because of his physical attributes… And who’s to say jones doesn’t have some injury that he’s not telling us about.
I even picked shogun to beat jones. I’m a huge fan. But after watching that performance (more-so jones than rua) I think the shogun that beat machida loses to bones still. At the end of the day I still see jones taking him down when he wants and punishing with elbows.
The fight was what it was. A legend being dethroned by a great fighter.

Stop it

He got taken down by the best wrestler in the division within 30 seconds and beat to shit, and then rocked when he did get up. Knees don’t have much to do with those vaunted sweeps getting completely shut down.

Not saying it would have made a difference.

Or that it was his knea. But kneas certainty help in take down defense. Sprawling and all that and just overall movement. Just responding to your knea theory not the fight.

He’s always has fairly atrocious TDD defense though, knee issues or not.

SHOgun was no where near 100 percent. He was gassed after the first. He looked like he did in Coleman/Griffin fights . I wish he’d been able to get a tune up fight or something.

by mortarz on Mar 21, 2011 6:48 PM EDT reply actions

I agree

I knew in my heart Shogun wasn’t being honest and he was no where near 100% I was expecting the exact same Sho that fought Coleman. If he was 100% it would have been a war I believe but with the same outcome as far as Jones winning.

Lol

I rather enjoyed Bones enterpitation of the apprehension it was quite amusing when he talked about Jackson being Spanish. Also as far as Rashad I think he’s taking the whole Jones would fight him way to personally. As far as Jackson not wanting to be part of it I really didn’t see Rashads point. I’ve fought my friends plenty of time when I was in Iraq or squad bays that’s what marines did for fun we literally beat the hell out of each other. Also I can even count how many times friends and I came back from bars got stupid and threw down and were cool the next day. I’ve seen plenty of fighters say hey we do it in practice let’s make $ off it. I believe Rashads hatin’. But this is just my opinion. Just don’t see(From what I’ve read) why Rashad is getting so mad and personal about the whole thing. Yes they’ve trained together yes they’re friends but like I already said it’s nothing personal it’s business smack each other around and go get that paper.

by Bloodsport on Mar 21, 2011 6:51 PM EDT via mobile reply actions

Wow, Everyone is so fast to try and discredit Jones win.

Shogun is the one who excepted the fight first. He should know that 6 weeks is not enough time to train for someone likes Jones. He said that he was able to train a 100% on his knee, that he felt no pain anymore. So why is it that fans make excuses for him, when he has made none himself. He gased becuase he was held down by a bigger fighter that had good top control. That’s how bones gases guys and he should have been ready for that.

I personally

Don’t mean to discredit Jones maybe the way I worded it sounded like that. But I believe Sho wasn’t 100% he came out looking like he did with Coleman. But regardless Jones put on a hell of a fight and believe regardless of Sho’s condition Bones still would have won on spectacular fashion.

What a lot of people seem to forget is that Shogun came from Chute Box.

In Chute Box nearly every kind of strike is allowed. That is why he was so effective in pride because he could utilize all of his strikes. Not having full access to all your strikes really limits a fighter like Shogun.

Maybe he could train 100 percent but clearly his cardio was absolute trash. He didnt absorb mcu damage but came out at the start of the 2nd throwing some of the sloppiest strikes ive seen. What he said was one thing but alot of people say things. I remember his last knee surgery and he looked as crappy as that time. For whatever reason he doesnt turn down fights even if he should.

by mortarz on Mar 21, 2011 7:08 PM EDT up reply actions

I agree. No matter what anyone says, you have three knee surgeries on the same knee at only 29 years old and their will be some repercussions. Jones gased him badly in the first, He out struck him as well. Shogun seemed dishearted after the first. He lost the fight mentally as soon as the bell rang at the end of the first.

That has to one of the most beautiful combinations I have ever seen. He times that kick perfectly, the second it is legal he blast Shogun. That kick is what broke Shoguns will.

Maybe he was gassed from getting the shit kicked him out of him for 5 minutes straight. That tends to tire a man out. He said he was training at 100% for months, so I’m going to take Shogun’s word on this one.

It's just a world, it's just a life.

by DirtyML on Mar 21, 2011 7:34 PM EDT up reply actions

If shogun was getting raped for 5 minutes it would of been 10-8. No one in their right mind scores that a 10-8.

by redstorm on Mar 21, 2011 7:43 PM EDT via mobile up reply actions

I didn’t say 10-8 anywhere. He still got his ass kicked for 5 minutes. Doesn’t have to be a 10-8 for that to occur.

It's just a world, it's just a life.

by DirtyML on Mar 21, 2011 7:45 PM EDT up reply actions

He absorb plenty of damage

It doesn’t matter if it was 10-9, 10-8, that’s up to a judge (and not always accurate.) but he got mauled for most of the round. The knees to the body, the elbows to the body, the arm across the throat, covering, the mouth and nostrils, that wobbling head kick, knees to the ribs, being on his back, trying to sweep, sub, or get up etc. If that’s not absorbing much damage…..well it is. And that’s what depleted his gas tank. The same Shogun who fought Machida showed up. Only problem was, that was no Machida on the other side if the cage.

by djkrazykill on Mar 21, 2011 11:50 PM EDT via mobile up reply actions

It's funny

beforehand it seemed like most Shogun fans completely refused to acknowledge that the layoff plus the surgery would have any effect on his game (dude, did you see how great he looked hitting pads in that video?) but of course now they would latch onto whatever they can get. I mean it’s totally plausibly that Shogun was already gassed and would’ve been much more able to avoid a well timed takedown about a minute into a fight if he was 100%.

My whole existence is in sarcasm font.

So many people said that. (Man you see the hip rotation and the strain on his knee? He is so ready for this fight.) It felt like blind ignorance on so many levels.

Not that no one said it but I didn’t read one comment pre-fight about how soggy or how out of shape he looked. Then right after it was brought up constantly how pudgy he is and how out of shape he looks.

Someone brought that up in response to rampage conditioning iirc.

by redstorm on Mar 21, 2011 7:44 PM EDT via mobile up reply actions

What bothers me is that, Shogun didnt make any excuses for this fight. The only excuses I hear are coming from his fans. Shogun always looked a little soft around the mid section in both Machida fights he looked a little soft and went five rounds no problem. The reason is because he didnt gased out by having Machida on top of him. You put any fighter under Jones for nearly the entire first round, and when he isnt on top of you he is beating your ass standing. You bet your ass will be gased out.

I didnt hear any excuses when the Boston Celtics last year lost the NBA finals because they had no starting center. I didnt need their head coach to say it to make it true. Im not saying he would of won far from it but Shoguns cardio was trash.

I think it was seriously foolish of him to try and clinch with Jones. As soon as he did he got INSTA-PLANTED on his ass. I mean thats like striking with Overeem or Jumping in Werdums guard. Your asking to get killed.
