Dan Miller stepped up to replace Yoshihiro Akiyama, who pulled out of this fight due to the earthquake and tsunami situation in his native Japan. Marquardt was too much for his opponent throughout the bout, but Miller fought with spirit and put on a good show for the viewing audience. The judges awarded Marquardt a unanimous 30-27 decision.

What was the high point of the fight?

This was a lot of fun grappling exchanges in this one. Just a lot of high-level stuff going on. And few people can pick up fans in losing efforts like Dan Miller.

Where do these guys go from here?

Nate Marquardt hit a couple of stumbling blocks when he lost decisions to both Chael Sonnen and Yushin Okami in 2010. Marquardt was already calling out Michael Bisping, who seems to be in the crosshairs of every middleweight under the Zuffa umbrella.

Most guys would be in danger of washing out of the UFC with a 5-4 record, but Miller's done a lot of favors for the organization by taking fights on short notice. There would be some poetic justice in matching Miller up for Yoshihiro Akiyama's return.

Watch it now, later, or never?

There's a Miller brother involved; watch it now.
