Me. If Silva ends up on his back against Jones he is seriously screwed though.

Everyone who says they want to see GSP/Silva better be in here saying, “YEAH! YEAH! ME! ME! OOOOOH! ME!” because it’s the same exact situation.

I have to disagree here...
I think Silva vs. Bones would be much more competitive than Silva vs. GSP. But if it’s going to happen, it has to happen sooner rather than later. I think Bones is going to become the Anthony Johnson of LHW in a couple years, cuttin’ serious weight and an eventual move up to HW.

Except
Jones hasn’t defended his title once, whereas GSP & Silva have all but cleaned out their divisions.
Does the matchup intrigue me? Sure. But Georges and Anderson are the top 2 fighters in the world, who have very successfully defended their titles.
Not to mention that the size disparity between Jones & Silva is much greater than the size difference between Silva & St. Pierre. At a catchweight, Silva (an average sized middleweight) might weigh 10 lbs. heavier than GSP (a larger than average welterweight) in the cage. Jones would probably have 20 lbs on Silva.

If Jones was 214-216 a week or more out, he was around that in the cage. Maybe 10 pounds he would have on Anderson.
Of course, even at MW, Anderson would have no weight advantage on GSP, although he would have a height/length/reach advantage.

Jones at 215
is way different than Anderson at 205, though. Anderson at 205 is a guy who just eats whatever he wants, and lifts a tad more. Very miniscule difference in his middleweight & light heavyweight physique.

Jones is shredded at 205, is 2 inches taller and considerably more built in the upper body (with slightly skinnier legs) than Anderson.

Definitely a difference in physique between Jones and Anderson, but Jones would have at most 10-15 pounds on him (Sonnen had 20-22). Anderson at 205 just carries more bodyfat than Anderson at 185.

Much better matchup
Than GSP vs. Silva IMHO. Glad Lorenzo is on board. Didn’t Anderson say he was done with 205 though?

The dragon was running rough shod over the division. But at that time bones only had like two fights in ufc. Bones owned bonner only moments before the dragon knocked out Silva cold. I was there and it was OFF THE HOOK! That is until Bj got owned that really sucked.

Yes. Forget this GSP nonsense. Make this fight before Anderson is too old to hang with Jon. I doubt he can hang with him anyway.

I don't really care to see it for the same reason I don't care to see Anderson vs. GSP
The size difference is way, way too much. I don’t think it would be all that competitive. I’d rather see Anderson fight Shogun, Rampage or Evans and see Jones just move right up to HW. The Fedor vs. Bigfoot Silva fight is a good example of size disadvantage.

“walk around weight” is completely and totally useless as a metric for comparing fighters. Jones would be about 10 pounds heavier than Silva (much less than the 20 or so pounds Sonnen had on him).

If their “walk around weight is the same” it means that Jones can cut to MW, right?

i mentioned this in another thread, i think this is a terrible fight for silva
Silva’s biggest weakness is wrestling, jon’s biggest strength is wrestling. Plus Jones is significantly bigger and stronger than Anderson, i think the fight would be similar to this one with Jones taking Anderson down and pummeling him with elbows
Anderson will beat Jon Elbows Jones
and UFC should allow the upkicks to a downed opponent, so that fighter would have a chance to kick some wrestlers in the face, like Anderson did to Yushin Okami. Anderson can definitely beat anyone.

The UFC has no say in the rules, they are entirely from the respective ACs, and based on the Unified Rules of MMA.
