Anderson Silva vs. Jon Jones
Lorenzo Fertitta, the owner of Zuffa and the UFC had an interesting question after the UFC 128 headlining bout between Jon Jones and Mauricio Rua. Rashad Evans was the one who stepped in the Octagon to challenge the new champion, but Fertitta might be proposing a more interesting super-fight. He asked the fans via twitter:
Bones vs. Silva? Who wants it?
For a while now, people have been clamoring for an Anderson Silva vs. Georges St. Pierre super-fight if the latter gets past Jake Shields on UFC 129. Although after seeing how utterly dominant Jones was against a guy like Rua, a bout against the long time middleweight champ might be a much more compelling match up for some fans.
"I don't want to see Rashad Evens and Jones I want to see Silva vs. Jones"
And apparently, Dana White is also starting to consider it. He talked about the super-fight on the post-fight presser:
Dana: "About 75 people" have already suggested an Anderson-Bones super-fight... "Anderson is clear that he doesn't want to fight at 205, but maybe now that Jones is champ, we'll see."
It's surely not going to sell as much as a potential bout against the mega-star in St. Pierre, but I have to admit, the idea of seeing the two face off is very appealing.
