Thank God!
This is the way to think. The Overeem brothers will fight each other in the tournament because of the significance of the fight.

i like that he thinks rashad should fight jones but at the same time i dont like that he said jones should’ve said no to a ufc title shot…
If he wouldve taken another fight n lost it wouldve seriously set him back, not to mention it prob wouldve put him on the bad side of dana white and title shots are hard to come by when you’re there (ex: fitch)
I like the way Whitman is thinking here.
I don’t think he should have turned down a title shot, but I definitely think that Jones should fight Rashad if it comes down to it, and he will very likely whoop his ass. I really don’t think Rashad wants to fight Jon though.

I agree, no reason at all for Jones to bypass a title shot, and Rashad should be willing to fight him.

Jones would annihilate Rashad Evans IMO. There is nothing Evans does better, plus he is far less athletic and fast than Jones. Really bad matchup for Evans if they did fight.
Werdum beat Fedor, Dos Santos beat Werdum, Joaquim Ferreira beat Dos Santos. Therefore Ferreira is WAAAAY better than Fedor. Keep MMA math alive!
It would be so easy too. Rashad has had his main camp at Grudge up in CO before.
Jones could stay in NM. Of course, Greg Jackson famously doesn’t prohibit his fighters from fighting eachother, but won’t be involved in training either of them (he always comes across, to me anyway, as kinda passive aggressive about this in interviews, like he basically wants to prohibit it but doesn’t want to seem like he is an authoritarina about the issue). If GJ sticks to this stand than one of them could just go up to tri-star and train w/ Firas.
Of course, Jones would dominate Rashad, what with being the better wrestler and the superior athlete. (I know JJ never competed in Div 1 wrestling, but does anyone seriously think that was due to lack of ability? I heard that Iowa wanted him, but he didn’t have the grades. Plus, Rashad was barely over 50% winning as a Div-I wrestler.)
I still wrestled in college in Iowa, roomed with Joe Soto, who got him hooked on MMA.
He still got some high level training in

WTF?
Jones shouldn’t have accepted the title shot.
Why not? It’s a freaking TITLE SHOT!!!!
Learn JiuJitsu, it's fun.
To be fair, there is the precedent of Pete Spratt turning down a title shot and it doing wonders for his career:
After defeating Robbie Lawler at UFC 42, Spratt was offered at shot at the UFC welterweight title. However, Spratt did not feel he was ready to fight reigning champion Matt Hughes, and turned down the offer and was subsequently released from the promotion.
i feel like this is less about his opinion on friends fighting friends
and more that he feels rashad as the more experienced veteran fighter in the camp should be the one in the title position and that jones should have waited his turn so to speak
refreshing
i like tha he’s sayin jones should have had more respect for his friend…
'if you don't have humility as a fighter, fighting will bring humility to you...'
Don't you think Rashad would be the one not showing respect...
if he had a problem with jones accepting a title shot?

If rashad wants the title, he can always try and take it from Jones. Doesn’t matter who fights for it first
