Video: Jon Jones on Fox 5 News

New Yorker Jon Jones will enjoy the home field advantage when he challenges UFC light heavyweight champ Mauricio "Shogun" Rua at UFC 128 in New Jersey. Here he is making an appearance on the local Fox News affiliate. Ever wonder where Jones got the nickname "Bones"? Just watch and see...

"I feel (this fight) is a blessing in disguise. I started my training camp in great shape. My timing is already great, everything is great. I feel as if everything happens for a reason and I'll be ready."

"I have a very unpredictable style; it's really hard to tell where I'm coming from. Between the strikes I decide to use and my strategy and tactics are always extremely different each fight. So I think that's my biggest advantage, is the fact that I'm the new guy in the sport and people just can't figure me out yet."

Jon Jones shows Duke Castiglione how he is going to win on Saturday night at the 4:09 min mark. (with a rear naked choke)

Good interview

Jon i really well spoken. It’s clear the interviewer knew virtually nothing about the sport, but Jon handled himself well as he usually does. WTF @ the other anchor almost hitting him with a chair though. I wonder what would have happened if he did.

One of my favourites of all time

Too bad his movies and tv shows fail in comparison to his stand up though… I never understood that.

Could that anchor have been more of an attention whore? Jesus.

HAY LOOK AT ME I KNOW YOU’RE STRUGGLING TO DO THIS INTERVIEW SO I’M JUST GONNA YELL SHITTY JOKES OFF CAMERA OVER TOP OF WHATEVER YOU’RE SAYING

“this guy is about to have the most important fight of his life in 48 hours, I’m gonna hit him over the head with an office chair!”

Epic Fail

I stopped the video @:21 when the reporter said…“he’ll have a chance to prove to the world that hes the top LHW champ”. I don’t know where to begin in describing the futile thought process this man went trough.

All part of going mainsteam get used to it

99% of all local media outlets have INSANELY bad banter to begin with. Couple that with the fact that they now must pretend to know something about a sport they are literally learning about from the sheet handed to them during the break.

Shit.

This made me cringe, and I’ve been cringing for over four hours after seeing this. Do I have to go to the hospital or something…?

These people knew nothing about the sport, so it’s great that they had him on there. These are the types of shows and audiences that need some exposure to MMA, to reduce their ignorance and fear of it. Of course it’s painful to watch for us, but Jon does a great job as an ambassador. Too bad he botched the number of states were it’s legal though:)

Great job on Jones’ part, he was more well-spoken than the host.

When the fool flipped over the couch with the chair, I just wish Jones would’ve said that he didn’t need the chair.

I have a habit of laughing at people’s failed attempts at humor instinctively, to make them feel better. For whatever reason, that switch doesn’t turn off when I’m watching videos, so I actually laughed at this shit. I’m gonna go take a shower…

He’s got the “it” factor. he could be as big or bigger than GSP. The only other guy in the UFC with that factor who isnt a star yet is Urijah Faber.

He certainly does a good job of not making himself look like another dumb jock/pro-wrestler type. I’d say, regardless of how bad the anchors were, it puts MMA in a better light.

When aiming for perfection, you realize that it is a moving target.

It seems like my MMA news is absolute clogged full of

“JON JONES! BONES JONES! JON JONES DOES AN INTERVIEW! BONES!”

Blah, blah, blah. It starting to make me hate him a little, and I’ve always been a fan.

The really scary thought is that it will get WORSE if he wins…

I apologize in advance.

this isn’t to say that he comes off poorly here. Just that I’m feeling a little oversaturated on Mr. Bones.

I apologize in advance.

I hear ya. After Machida beat Rashad, I ignored him completely the whole summer. Need some distance from it once in a while.

you dont push down with the back hand.

You actually just put it on the back of the head to not get head butted or if its not NHB hide the hand (ala Roger and marcelo)so it can’t be pulled over the head. Never do you push with the rear hand.

UFC is licking their chops

…to have Bones Jones as their new champ.

He’s well-spoken, he’s black, and he speaks english.

Why instead of tapping, does he flail one T-Rex arm?

I know he works for Fox, but surely he understands the concept of ‘tapping’?
