Graphic: The Zuffa Umbrella of MMA [UPDATED AGAIN]
Like many in the BE community, I have been inspired to action by the recent news of Zuffa's acquisition of Strikeforce. Below is a graphic that I created for my blog: An MBA on MMA (http://mba-mma.blogspot.com/). I'm curious to get a few reactions on this graphical representation of the current Zuffa picture. Let me know if I've missed anything or if you have any recommendations for improvement.

Looks good.
I guess MTV2 (Bellator) and HDNet (MFC, SRC, Titan, Shark fights) are Zuffa’s only remaining U.S. competition.
Learn JiuJitsu, it's fun.
Those HDNet promotions
at least at the time being, can only be considered feeder organizations. They don’t really do exclusive contracts, and many of their fighters go on to Zuffa/ Bellator.
Bellator is definitely #2 nowadays.

It only represents the North American market
UFC has so many other affiliates including ESPN UK which has to be a major player I would imagine. Kind of missing a number of major stations around the world that UFC deals with.
scratch that, the USA market
Doesn’t even include the major players in Canada.
that's a great point
maybe I could work that in somehow…or I should specify that it’s only the U.S. market

It gets tricky with the us market as well
M-1 is a Russian company operating in the USA on your graphic and ESPN UK would be an American company operating outside the USA.
The other thing I was unclear on is
whether or not CBS is still technically in the mix with Strikeforce. Do you know if that’s the case?

As far as I know, yes
I haven`t heard otherwise and Dana keeps saying business as usual which I would assume means they still have a CBS deal as well.
In that case maybe I should create a new category on the Strikeforce side
It could be called Broadcast Partners. And I could group CBS and Showtime under there. I could leave M1 and Dream under Cross Promotions. Then on the UFC side I could change the one category title to U.S. Network Partners and Add a new Category called International Broadcast Partners and I could list the ones you mentioned like ESPN UK.

I guess I could also link HD Net to DREAM if I made that change

Once you get international it gets interesting
I live in Canada and the fights that get aired on spike from the UK actually air live here on sportsnet in the afternoon and then re-air here on spike tv on taped delay at 9 or 10pm est., like the American coverage is. But when they air TUF it plays in its normal time slot on spike tv and airs an hour or two later on sportsnet depending on which province you live in.
I would think you are on the right track but you just need a much bigger umbrella and a little help from a few individuals living outside the USA who are serious about the sport and know all the airing times for their UFC content.
thanks for the help
I’m working on an update….I don’t think it will be final, but it will be a step closer considering all that we’ve talked about. Check out the update later tonight.

Cheers, and good luck with everything in the future
If you have any questions about anything north of the border I would be happy to help out.
Zuffa doesn’t own the video IFL library. It was incorrectly reported that the UFC had acquired them back when it was thought they had bought the IFL, rather than simply signed fighters that were newly free agents. It’s a shame, because if they did then every time they had an intro video for a Dan Miller fight we would see this:

That aside, dig the graphic.

Now that you mention it
I remember seeing the IFL DVDs for sale on the HDNet website. Cuban seems to have a good number of Fight libraries himself. He must be a distant 2nd to Zuffa in that category.

Between
DREAM, SRC, MFC, IFL (if what you said is true), Shark Fights… it has a pretty decent library for sure.
Wouldn’t it be great if they put together a “UFC Unleashed” type show, with great fights from all the tape they own? I would dig that.

I’m not sure if they eventually bought the whole library but they certainly have a lot of the last cards since it had become the IFL’s broadcaster by the time they were done with team fights and had moved on to grand prix bouts and then title fights. I don’t recall exactly when the switch happened but I would presume between the end of the last team season and then the Grand Prixs kicked off near the end of the same year.

![Brazilian TV Exec Says UFC Coming To Brazil in 2011
Danilo Lavieri of Abril.com interviews Terence Paiva, RedeTV! sports director (translation by Chris Nelson):
While (RedeTV!) has been increasing the exposure of MMA, have you looked into broadcasting national events?
In truth, we can't. The agreement with the UFC doesn't allow us to show other fighting championships. But the way around this is to create something here, something like a selective (feeder) for the UFC. That we could broadcast.
Hence the idea of bringing The Ultimate Fighter to Brazil?
When we did the deal with the UFC, they wanted us to broadcast TUF. But our experience with The Contender showed that it doesn't do much. People watch, but it doesn't have the necessary impact. Brazilians want to see Brazilians in action. Brazilians don't like things captioned. So we want to bring TUF here, yes, with Brazilian fighters. But they're different ideas. One does not preclude the other.
Canal Combate's contract with the UFC ends in 2011. Do you really want to get this contract for yourselves?
Not quite. This makes it sound like RedeTV! is the enemy of others. It isn't. We want to broadcast something, something that goes beyond our current deal [21 days after the event takes place]...
And RedeTV! will be partnering with the UFC to bring fights to Brazil?
Also not so. People exaggerate, saying RedeTV! will bring (the UFC to Brazil) and things like this. We're a partner of the UFC and we're going to give them full support so they come here. In fact, they'll be here in 2011. That's for sure. There are some details missing, like where it will take place and whatnot. Now they view us as a market.](http://cdn0.sbnation.com/fan_shot_images/133278/redetv_small.jpg)
