Introducing Bloody Elbow Radio

As many of you might have noticed, I'm Matt Bishop and I'm new here. I used to run MMAForReal.com before that site was shut down and have now (in my best LeBron voice) taken my talents here to Bloody Elbow to contribute to this wonderful site. Not only will I be contributing to this site it written form, but I am happy to announce the addition of Bloody Elbow Radio to the site with our first edition coming your way LIVE for two hours starting at 4 p.m. ET/1 p.m. PT Thursday (Feb. 10).
The show will comprise of myself as host, my cohort Forrest Lynn and BE's own Jonathan Snowden along with contributions from many other BE staffers. We'll start Thursday with an exciting show to preview "Strikeforce/M-1 Global: Fedor vs. Silva" with special guest Mike Fagan. Snowden will check in with two weekly segments, the first being "Curmudgeon's Corner" with BE editor Kid Nate and what promises to be an extremely interesting weekly debate segment known as "Snowden vs. Subo."
Since BE is known for its large community interaction, the show will be no different. We plan on involving the listenership by reading your e-mails, tweets and comments and by taking your calls. Going forward, we'll be offering listeners the opportunity to record and send us rants by featuring the "Reader Rant of the Week." Snowden also will feature the "Fanpost of the Week" on air.
Now, for some background on the show: Even before I started at MMA For Real in May 2009, I hosted a show called Lights Out Radio that started in August 2007. We brought that show to MMA For Real and now the evolution of that show continues here. As LOR, we did just shy of 300 shows during the three-and-a-half years of our existence and kept the show growing throughout that time.
As for myself and Forrest (since everybody knows Snowden already), here is some information about us. I am a near-graduate of Michigan State University and will shortly hold my bachelor's degree in communication. At MSU, I worked in the sports department for the student newspaper, The State News, covering every major sport at the school. I had the honor of covering the 2005 Final Four in St. Louis and 2010 Valero Alamo Bowl in San Antonio along with about 20 NCAA Tournament games, as well, between men's basketball, hockey, women's basketball and men's soccer. I served as the paper's editor-in-chief during summer 2008. I currently hold a part-time position with The Detroit News in the sports department in addition to my duties here at BE and with SLAM! Wrestling. You can follow me on Twitter @mbish86.
Forrest Lynn is a long-time fan of MMA who has served as a technical consultant to several fighters. He has attended MMA shows on two continents (North America and Asia) and provides a great technical breakdown of the sport. Forrest resides near Auburn, Ala., and can be found avidly following the Auburn Tigers football team throughout the year. He joined Lights Out Radio in February 2009 and has been a key cog in the show ever since. You can follow him on Twitter @sprewellrimz.
Our staples at LOR were our signature preview and review shows of all major MMA events and we plan on continuing that here on Bloody Elbow. For those fans craving instant analysis following a big show, we've got you covered. We'll be live shortly after all major MMA shows to run down the evening's happenings and will, as always, be encouraging listener interaction during the show. If you're not a night owl, you can always catch the show (or any show for that matter) on download at your convenience.
It's my goal to bring everyone a fun, entertaining show each time out. We look forward to doing big things with this. I think I can speak for myself, Forrest, Jonathan and the rest of the BE crew when I say that we're all very excited for this.
We'll see you on Thursday!

This will be awesome. I love Snowden vs Subo.
If this fails, I blame Kid Nate’s contribution.

I’m pumped for the Snowden vs. Subo segment. That sounds like it’ll be fun.
Texas A&M got beat so bad in the Cotton Bowl there was a 21 gun salute at the end of the 4th quarter.
Same here
That was a great idea.

If this goes to the ground are elbows to the head allowed? I’m picturing this getting ugly some where along the line.
This ain't fucking Strikeforce

I also realized that my overtime is lifted so I’l only catch a lil bit of it. Hopefully there’s podcasts.

This alone is worth tuning in for. I can’t wait for the part where it degrades into incoherent screaming and, perhaps, a bit of weeping.

Subo can't debate in an internet forum where he has plenty of time to think before he posts.
Dude’s going to get torn apart in a live setting.
I’ll listen though.

I can’t wait for this!!!! Any way to fit more MMA into my life..
I listened to Lights Out Radio a few times and you guys will add A LOT to the site with this show… If I recall correctly, my only problem with the previous show is it felt like a podcast with bulletpoints (and it never played properly on my computer… neither here nor there)… That said, it appears the new show is going to have actual segments… and I hope you freeflow into each part of the show instead of jarringly breaking them up into small parts like the other show.

“Oh. ok.”
I did something similar when I read the part about Snowden vs Subo, but it was more aking to a short laugh burst (hah!). Lucky for me, most people had already left for the day so I don’t think anyone important noticed.
