GSP vs A.Silva: Now that it's real, I don't want it.

Before I begin let me apologize for how disjointed this train of thought may seem.

Anderson Silva has proven once again that when he's not busy dancing or playing an air guitar, he is a force to be reckoned with. After Vitor and presumably a win over Okami there really isn't anyone at 185 that tickles my fancy, outside a rematch with Chael Sonnen, not for the fight itself but more of the entertainment of the circus that would lead up to it... but I only bring that up to raise the point that the "obvious" move would be for Anderson to move up to 205lbs. There are so many interesting fights for him there, Rampage, Rashad, Shogun... maybe even Randy? He's got options is all I'm saying.

Now for GSP, assuming he gets past Shields, who is the first name that you'll hear "the fans" claim they want? Anderson Silva.

Doesn't it seem odd though that you could see Anderson going up in weight and beating guys, some who have fought at heavyweight and were UFC Champions, but if you suggested that GSP fight say, Forrest Griffin, you'd be told you are a retard and should never voice an opinion about MMA again. Let me remind you that Anderson Silva beat, no, embarrassed Forrest Griffin. (I realize that GSP is never moving to LHW but this is just to make my point clear...)

...and if it isn't clear yet the point I am trying to illustrate is that while this looks like a mere 15 pound gap between the worlds greatest Welterweight and the worlds greatest Middleweight, it is a lot bigger than that.

Georges St. Pierre, despite his incredible determination, willpower, skillset and athleticism cannot close this physical gap which divides them. In theory this fight sounds like a dream come true, but on paper it suddenly seems like less of a fight and more of a throwback to a pre-Zuffa UFC Open Weight Tournament.

I'm not saying a smaller man cannot beat a larger opponent, the UFC was born with Royce Gracie dispelling that myth. I'm just saying this is no ordinary larger man, this is Anderson Silva, and I think he's tired of dancing.
