Community Interview Questions Needed: Former WEC Champion Mike Brown

Image via UFC.com

The Bloody Elbow Community Interview is back, this time starring former world featherweight champion Mike Brown. From his WEC title reign, to his recent struggles, to his time in Japan: everything is up for discussion. Want to know what life is like for a professional fighter, inside and outside the cage? How did it feel to beat the heavily favored Urijah Faber? What does he need to do to regain his form? These are the kind of crappy questions I've come up with; you can do better.

Mike Brown Career Highlights:

UFC 47: Debuts in the Octagon versus the great Genki Sudo

BoDog Fight: Biggest win to date against former UFC star Yves Edwards

WEC 34: Returns to the Zuffa fold with win over highly regarded Jeff Curran

WEC 36: Upsets Urijah Faber to win Featherweight Title

WEC 41: Defends title successfully against a returning Faber

Leave your questions in the comments for your chance to interact with a world champion.

How does it feel, being called a mediocre lightweight that was never any good to begin with?

Luke: What was our best moment?
Nate: When I banned Subo?
Luke: That was a good one.

Oh, and this one

Technically not a career “highlight”, but the fact that he came back from this makes me respect MTB that much more.

Mike, do you now feel as though you rushed taking the Yahya fight??

and do you feel that moving to lightweight would be a good idea if you lost another FW bout?

What is the biggest difference

between how you see yourself as a fighter and how MMA fans see you? And what do you think is the source of that difference?

what happened
and how do you plan to correct it. A non PC answer would be nice. Kind of assuming all im going to hear is “fight smarter, work harder” . However mtb always seems to be in the best shape so im assuming theres some mental block there that he cant get past

"its either going to be genius or its going to f***ing suck. Until I see the first cut I have no idea. But you know what? Neither does anybody else"

What was going through your head when Imanari popped your knee, other than “Ow?” It came completely out of nowhere in a fight you were controlling.

Was it your idea to impersonate Jeff Monson calling out Kimbo Slice? How did that come about?

Monson calls out Kimbo.
Brown mocks Monson.

How does it feel to be Feather Hulk? Though your career has hit a bump, so to speak, I and I am sure other are sure that you will be back and whoopin ass, with any luck before fall.

For having so many good fighters, ATT doesn't currently house any champions in North America.

Why does Brown think this is the case, and does he think that continuing to train at ATT will get him back to the top of the division?

In addition: How does he feel about being the only member of ATT to hold a Zuffa title?

In your first UFC fight, you took on the eccentric Genki Sudo. In that situation, were you even paying attention to his entrance or his general strangeness? Or were you just completely focused on yourself there?

The WEC’s pre-merger promotional efforts were almost completely focused on Urijah Faber. How did it feel to derail that hype train?

How did it feel defeating Faber for the second time at WEC 41 in front of his home crowd in Sacramento? How did it feel walking into the boos, and walking out to the silence?

(WEC 41 was my first ever MMA event, so special thanks, MTB!)

I'm just a 16 year old kid who loves MMA.

After seeing the tape, do you believe you won the Diego Nunes fight? Going into the Yaya, fight did you underestimate his takedown ability, what was your gameplan in that fight? What is the timetable for your return, and who would you like to see in the cage next?

Training at ATT, which fighter is the most intense to train with, or is there one guy who the other fighters dread rolling/sparring with?

mtb does reading these messageboards get to u knowing that, before WEC the aldo fight you were so beloved and respected. Does it make you dislike the fans knowing how the can turn such venom on a former fan favorite?

How does he feel about a matchup vs. Omigawa?

They’re both coming off of losses, and it would be a good fight if it happened.

Why does everyone at ATT seem to antagonize Jeff Monson so much?

Do you remember running into me in the bathroom at UFC 96?

I was and still am surprised that world champions piss like normal people.

How close are you with your management team

and have you noticed a significant difference in sponsor pay since the move to UFC prelims compared to WEC prelims?

what informed his decision to accept the Yahyi fight on short notice?

Was his training camp for Nunes really good enough for two fights? Did he just escape the Nunes fight without any injuries? Is it possible that he slept on Yahyi (everyone else did, including myself)?

I know you are a big FW but now that u have lost 4 out of your last five, have u considered dropping down to BW? Is it possible? Who would u like to fight at BW? If u cant who would u like to fight at FW? Would he like to welcome Kenflo to the FW class?
