Jon Jones Exclusive, UFC 126 Press Conference Highlights on The Fight Fix

Host Dustin Green is live in Las Vegas for UFC 126: Belfort vs. Silva and is bringing you daily recaps of each day's action in the lead up to the event itself.

Green was on hand yesterday for the pre-fight press conference. This video package includes highlights from this event including special comment from Jon Jones. In particular, Jones says:

  • "We're gonna go out there and...I'm gonna go for a flying triangle right off the bat.  And if he lands on top I'm gonna try to twist his nipple until he taps because that's really painful."

  • "I've said it before... I believe in fight psychology and there's a lot of psychology in fighting.  And one thing I have noticed is striking is where he's learning to be most comfortable and surprisingly, wrestling seems to gas him out the most.  So...if he wants to wrestle with me, I'm excited to wrestle with him.  I've wrestled for many years... I think subconsciously he's afraid of his...cardio not being up to par...So, I would embrace wrestling with him and see where his wrestling cardio is because I'm positive [mine] is okay."

  • "I'm sorry to be cliche, and I'm sure you're expecting this answer but, I never look past an opponent...If I'm not victorious on February 5th...I'll be sidetracked big time.  It would slow down my momentum...Honestly, no else even exists in the division outside of Ryan Bader to me right now."

20 secs, Dana White - "The stare down is the best part for me.  I love it.  What happened here today, we're not even at he weigh ins yet!  What happened here today was one of the top 10 best stare downs I've ever seen!"

:28 secs, Ryan Bader - "I don't need a lot of smack talk to get me going, you know.  I love to come out here and perform."

:33 secs, Rich Franklin - "I knew from the get go when this fight was signed that I was fighting a tough opponent...He was tough when I signed the contract and he hasn't gotten any tougher since then.  So, I've been expecting a pretty tough fight.

:45 secs, Forrest Griffin - "My only hope is just that... I'm there, he's thre, the ingredients are there.  I just hope the cake turns out...You know I hope it is the great fight that it can be, that's really my only hope.  And I'd like to win too.  That'd be even better."

:59 secs, Anderson Silva - (translation) "There's a lot of great fights...that happen all the time, but to me, if you were to ask me what the fight of the decade would be, it would be me fighting my clone."

1:11, Vitor Belfort - "It's hard to make a statement....on what's gonna happen.  I'm there to fight.  I'm gonna do m best.  We gotta wait and see.  Buy pay-per-view.  Don't miss it."

1:29, Jon Jones on fight week finally being here - "It feels great...I've prepared for this situation mentally as far as all the press and the media being around...I'm up for the challenge.  I think Bader is a great opponent...and I'm just excited for it...I realized that all this was going to come with rising towards the top, and that 's my goal: to be at the top of the division.  And I just feel mentally, spiritually, physically prepared for all of it."

2:04, Jon Jones on watching Ryan Bader film - "Um to be literal, maybe 13 hours of watching him, that's just interviews.  As far as... watching his fights, I watched them pretty much every night.  I feel asleep on his fights many nights...after practice.  I would eat my lunch and watch more fights and fall asleep....I feel as though I've bathed myself in combat, bathed myself in Ryan Bader, and I know exactly who I have to fight [Saturday] and some of his tendencies - his footwork, timing... I think it's the secret to why things are going well for with me right now.

"You know what, hang on, that 13 hour thing, that might be a little creepy.  Maybe not 13 hours on just interviews, but I've watched a lot of film.  13 is creepy.  I'm not that big of a creep guys."

2:52, Jon Jones on Greg Jackon's game plan: "We're gonna go out there and...I'm gonna go for a flying triangle right off the bat.  And if he lands on top I'm gonna try to twist his nipple until he taps because that's really painful."

3:05, Jon Jones on Greg Jackson's real game plan: "Just to expect a lot of versatility.. and unpredictability."

3:24, Jon Jones on how much wrestling he expects from Bader: "I've said it before...

4:06, Jon Jones on where a win here puts him in the 205 title hunt: "I'm sorry to be cliche, and I'm sure you're expecting this answer but, I never look past an opponent...If I'm not victorious on February 5th...I'll be sidetracked big time.  It would slow down my momentum...Honestly, no else even exists in the division outside of Ryan Bader to me right now."
