Tatame reports that the UFC has re-signed TUF season eight cast-member, Eliot Marshall (10-2), to face Luiz Cane on short notice at UFC 128, as a replacement for Karlos Vemola.
Marshall was cut by the UFC following his decision loss to Vladmir Matyushenko in March 2010, despite his record of 3-1 with the promotion. Since then, Marshall has gone 3-0, most recently submitting Chris McNally in December.

Interesting
Just yesterday I wondered what had become of “The Fire” Marshall

good on him!
Marshall deserves this. I hope he shows his mettle and gets another fight w/ a full camp. Oh, and I also hopes he beats Cane up. Is it just me or does Cane look really small at 205?

The UFC is usually pretty good to people who step in at least moment even if they lose so I expect that a loss won’t see him immediately booted. A last minute replacement win, especially if it’s a good one, will see him earn quite a bit of brownie points though.

All of his UFC fights following TUF were perceived by many as being quite boring, so Dana and Joe Silva were probably looking for the first opportunity to cut him loose. The lost to Vladdy, controversial or not, gave them that opportunity thanks to those infamous UFC contacts.
his cub swanson fight was brutal

What happened to Vemola???
I cant find anything on why he’s out! May sound crazy but seeing him fight again was my top priority on this card. The guys exciting to watch. Little rough around the edges, but promising

I was kind of looking forward to it too, after how vicious Vemola was in his last fight. But he’s out with some mouth infection apparently.

Went to HS with Elliot Marshall
Good to see him get a second shot at the big show.
I am vorn the unspeakable the skulls of those who defy me bleach in the suns of hundreds of worlds...... and you are
Not mad at this pick at all
Would have liked to see Kingsbury back in action after his recent TKO but Marshall is a good replacement.

Off Topic,
but I want to see Vinny back as well…after a few more wins of course, I liked him in TUF. Vinny’s only 26 and he’s an exceptional grappler. It’d look good to have a “Demian Maia” or “Palhares” if you will at 205, I’m guessing more of a Palhares due to the physique and all. Btw do we even have any phenomenal bjj grapplers at 205? I mean I know we have Nog and I guess Shogun, but Nog hasn’t really shown any type of superior ground skills in his last few fights and Shogun would much rather prefer to blast his opponents on the feet.

![Always honest, Forrest Griffin tells Sherdog he's anticipating a difficult weight cut and conditioning issues for his upcoming fight in Rio against Mauricio "Shogun" Rua:
"I definitely put on more weight than I would like," Griffin told Sherdog.com. "I need to cut weight and it won’t be easy. I’ll have a lot of problems until the fight in Brazil, but I’ve gotta do it. I don’t want to fight at heavyweight, so I gotta cut that f--king weight."
"He’s one of the best fighters ever," Griffin said of his opponent, who he submitted in September 2007. "He has a blitz style. He goes forward. He’s dangerous. I gotta make him move backward and let’s see what happens. I want to go hard for all 15 minutes of the fight."
"It’s difficult to adjust yourself [to another country]," said Griffin. "There’s the jetlag thing, and it’s difficult to make weight since Brazil doesn’t have the distilled water I use in the U.S. and the food I need to eat. It’s always difficult to change your routine when you go to another country. I feel stupid because I can’t communicate with people from the hotels and can’t even say how I want my eggs. It’s clearly a pain in the ass."
