They are, but I think it is also mockery of British humor...
Being that Bisping is such a Cry Baby, I think Rivera knew it would get under his skin.

Not sure if it's a mockery...
or just executed poorly… The first one clearly has a Monty Python theme. The apology had a South Park theme.

It is not a mockery
It just appears Bisping is being very sensitive. I thought the video was really good. The meat biscuit bit had me really laughing and I’ve now started calling them that. Though I don’t think it will catch on in England…

I would love to see that
But this fight is more likely to end up like Leben-Bisping then Bisping-Hendo
I'd agree if all things are equal.
But I think an emotional Bisping starts overcommitting on those pillow punches of his and ends up KO’d. When your whole strategy is based on jabbing and jogging to a decision, getting pissed off at your opponent and going in with something to prove isn’t good.
BJJ > Sambo
by lowellthehammer on Feb 22, 2011 11:54 PM EST up reply actions
He might be angry
But Bisping’s ground and pound has always been his best weapon. He might overcommit on the feat of course, but everyone seems to forget he spent a good part of the Wanderlei fight shooting for takedowns. He also finished Dennis Kang on the ground two fights back
He has good GnP and very meh takedowns.
Well see. Bisping is a safe bet but I like Jorge’s odds.

And he has 3 wins by decision. Out of 20sih.
Hamill, Akiyama, and Leben. Those are his only decision wins I can remember, am I forgetting any?

-Randall Munroe
Sounds about right
Everyone just remembers his decisions because they were against his more recent opponents
Name a solid UFC calibre opponent
That Bisping has finished. Not taking away from his talent, I think he’s one of the fastest and most technical MWs… period.
Everyone remembers the decisions because those are his biggest wins. The Kang fight is the only possibly exception I see, but that’s what Kang does and the first round didn’t go Bisping’s way (though he did do a good job with his guard if I recally correctly).
And Dan Miller
He decisioned him.

But that footage of Hendo unleashing hell on Bisping was an “all-time” highlight for me. In my opinion it’s just one of those moments. It didn’t carry any huge significance but it was the perfect storm of Hendo dropping his head and launching a rocket and Bisping circling into it’s path….then PING!

Whatever-his-face-is that’s standing in between them could not look any more uncomfortable…
Jorge Rivera has a really powerful punch and no other skills of note.
Henderson is a good wrester with strong hips, Rashad Evans is huge and has elite takedowns, and Wanderlei’s BJJ black belt combined with Thai takedowns makes him a multidimensional threat when need be. Bisping should crush Rivera. TKO late in the second via GNP is my prediction.
"Someone is WRONG on the internet. What do you want me to do? LEAVE? Then they'll keep being wrong!"
-Randall Munroe
If Bisping
constantly circles right like he did against Hendo, Jorge will TKO him regardless of his deficiencies in other areas.
He probably won’t though.
Yeah... but that was a mistake he made after being forced to standing
when his takedowns proved fruitless against a very competent wrestler. Rivera is not a competent wrestler. I got Bisping by GNP and people calling him a coward for not striking with a guy he can take down.
"Someone is WRONG on the internet. What do you want me to do? LEAVE? Then they'll keep being wrong!"

That’s what I’m expecting too… but I also can see the possibility of him getting clipped after trying to prove a point by standing with him.
…and by “can see the possibility of”, I really mean “am praying for”.

Bisping is too good
Great ground game, very good at distance control.
It’s just a shame he really knows how to irritate the entire universe with his mouth, Jorge should try to push the pace and disrupt his rhythm.
The main reason Bisping is acting this way is because he isn’t getting that title shot he keeps peddling for, although if he does a performance like he did with Dennis Kang he might get that shot

I don’t know about nearly coming to blows to be honest. Jorge looked like his hands were glued to his pockets. It’s surprising to me that Bisping, as experienced as he is, is letting it get to him, when it’s so painfully obvious to me that it’s designed to make him mad.

Super bizzare. Bisping saying “you’d better back it all up” is hardly an incredible emotional response. Just generic fighting talk. Rivera’s chance of winning this are solely down to a lucky punch. Fact.

"I LOVE THIS GAME!"
Rivera has definitely got into Bisping's game
I think Saturday night, people will say Rivera won the fight long before they got into the cage.
Rivera was just trying to piss Bisping off, and he did it. He’s 38 and has fought loads of guys of various talent levels. The fact that he’s done some videos to make Bisping mad isn’t going to change the way he fights at all.
But Bisping, he’s the guy that has been trashed on, and he feels like Brits in general have been trashed on with Rivera’s comments. He feels like he has to go out there and prove a point. He can’t be the guy who was mercilessly made fun of and then lost to the guy who trashed him, it would kill him, he’s afraid that that is whats going to happen.
Rivera has driven Bisping to the point where Bisping is probably going to fight with a lot of emotion, like he has something to prove…and more than likely it will cost him.
Bisping won’t do his usual ‘gun and run’ type of fight here, because now he is worried that he will look like a coward, like he is afraid of Rivera…so he’s not going to do that, even though thats his style and thats how he wins. He’ll be fighting counter-intuitively, which Rivera will capitalize on, because thats what he wants, he wants Bisping to come forward on him, and then he’ll blast him.
God speed Rivera, God speed.

Wow, it looks like Rivera REALLY got under the skin of Michael Bisping. He really looked frazzled and uncollected while Rivera was able to keep composure when Bisping walked up to him. As far as the mental aspect of the fight game goes, it’s obvious Jorge got in Bisping’s head.

In other news
Just saw the Anderson/Rivera fight yesterday. It was pretty good, Rivera made a fairly durable punching bag for Anderson until he folded. I felt that the stoppage was a bit early, but I’m sure Anderson was just about to turn up the heat anyways when he had him floored, so *eh.
Man I think that earlier Anderson (Pride/Mecca Anderson) was full of untapped energy and potential, mainly based on the way that he threw strikes and his “skiddish” nature. I think Cage Rage and maybe “late Pride” Anderson is around the time where he really built up his confidence as a striker and was just comfortable with picking his shots and throwing great strikes…and that was back 5-7 years ago, so just imagine how ridiculously confident and comfortable he must be now with his strikes. He fought similar in the Jorge fight the way that he fights now, amazing.

That's what I love and would like to see more of
Not pro wrestling, but guys that are more willing to feed their own marketing machine to build interest in a fight.
At first, Rivera was a ‘gimme’ fight for Bisping with a punchers chance. Not a whole lot of people were excited about this fight or the card in general.
Rivera took matters into his own hands, did some goofy videos just for the hell of it, and now Bisping is visibly pissed off about it. People are more and more starting to like Rivera’s chances and doubt Bispings resolve. Plenty of people are interested in seeing one of these guys crush the other now. But most importantly, people are talking, people are interested, news pieces and discussions are centered entirely around the build up to this fight.
Even the UFC has got in on it now, featuring Rivera’s lated video on their site.
If either guy goes out there and crushes the other, it will be twice as beneficial for their name and interest in them as if they were respectful leading up to this fight. Bisping will be even more of the ‘love to hate him guy’ and Rivera will look like a mastermind of the mental aspect of the game, mentally defeating a fighter who pretty much trumps him physically and technically.
Personalities sell, trash talk of any variety sells, Sonnen used the most over the top talk ever, Rivera is using parody videos, and now loads of people are interested in this fight.
Even Anderson Silva came around to learning the art of getting the mental upperhand. The mask he wore against Belfort caused a ton of last minute excitement for an already anticipated fight because it made it personal.
More guys need to embrace the entertainment aspect of pre-fight talk. Fans and fighters alike need to be willing to take it in stride and enjoy the fun of it, and stop taking every remark so damn personally. Just because a guy does some goofy videos, wears a mask, or makes remarks about rats pissing on cotton and hispanic dudes impersonating him…it doesn’t make them an absolute prick that you should hate, they are trying to build up the fight. Fans and the media should learn to embrace it just a tad more and not get so mad.
Yes, trash talkers can often be real douchebags, like in the case of Sonnen, but does anyone think Anderson is an asshole who doesn’t respect his opponent? Or that Rivera would be doing these videos about Bisping if he weren’t fighting him?
Went off on a huge tangent there, but I think I made my point.

Takes credibility away from the UFC with these antics.
I thought it was funny as hell for Rivera to stand there with his mouth pretty much shut after having been so vocal on YouTube. The UFC wants to get sanctioned in New York, and with WWE style antics like Rivera’s, and Sonnen’s, it takes away credibility. Dana White should put a stop to guys like this. It’s one thing to say you are going to kick someone’s ass, and another to call him a dick on YouTube. Sonnen’s the same way. He thinks he’s a comedian. If he wants to be a comic, go to a comedy club and tell his jokes.
If the UFC wants to be seen as serious, get rid of guys like this, or fine them and have them remove their clips, or tell them to shut the hell up. Promote yourself, but do it in a way that doesn’t make MMA and the UFC look like a joke. Some guys already think that. Don’t give them fuel to add to their fire.
Yes it adds hype, right now, but it can have long term consequences if it continues. Put an end to it. This isn’t the WWE, and I don’t want it to be. Just like a lot of other people. Talk with your abilities, not your shortcomings. Rivera got drunk and made the video. Doesn’t that say something?
If he loses, kick his ass to the curb.
