His talent was going to waste being wrapped up in litigations with Bellator.
I hope they give him the prospect treatment. Herman’s got potential.

yup. So excited!
ONly two losses and one fo them was a DQ. YOu know they made this move because of the Strikeforce tournament. This guy is legit too. Love the move.

Feed him to Carwin then cut him
like Duffee. I can’t stand guys who call UFC champs when they are not even in the promotion. This guy did.

Why? That's a waste.
If you’re going to call someone out, why not make it the #1 guy? Herman has lots of upside and can go far as a HW. Besides, now that he actually signed with the UFC, he can fight the champ he’s been calling out (cf Nick Diaz).

...cause that makes a ton of sense.
Let’s torpedo the career of a prospect in the UFC’s most shallow division based on petty spite over comments from god knows how long ago.

At least he's actually coming to the UFC...
Instead of staying in another org and still calling out UFC champs
The hell are you talking out?

watch out for Karma, I’ve heard recently that at times it is not so pleasant
Who's the only one here who knows illegal ninja moves from the government?
In fact, don't watch out for Karma
Guys, there’s no physical law to support the idea of “karma”. A buddhist once told me “it’s metaphoric, it’s metaphoric!”, and I warned him “bub, people are taking that shit seriously and they’re getting paranoid about it”.
Turns out I was right.
Your brave neighbourhood common-sense-maker to the rescue!
yeah i get it, karma is neutral…I’m referring to one of his earlier ‘Karma’ posts about Paul Kelly
but if there was any justice in the world, a fan would sucker punch him like he did Cerrone. And to make that lame ass excuse that he did not mean it. You did mean it sir and Karma is a bitch.

That makes…zero sense.

I wonder if giving him to Mir at 130 and then pushing Big Country to Carwin at 131 is possible?
Would definitely make for exciting, entertaining fights. And it would build Pee Wee hugely if he beat up Mir, which I think he would.
I don’t think it likely he immediately fights a top guy like that. Let’s see him with Pat Barry or someone first.

I’m just thinking that marketable young prospects at HW are really limited, and they don’t want to lose prospects by making them face off. They can afford to do it at LHW (Bader-Jones), but not at HW, so I’d try to get my prospects fighting names. But I didn’t build the most successful MMA brand ever, so I think whatever they do should be good.
Don’t know if Barry and Herman would fight each other since Herman’s spent some time at Roufus’ gym.

Is he any good?
I only know him from reading his record on Wikipedia and his contract spat with Bellator. Seems like a middle of the road guy in the UFC. How would he fare there?
Herman is VERY talented.
Unfortunately, that million dollar body is attached to a ten-cent head. He has a well-deserved reputation as a flake who doesn’t take his training seriously.
That sucks
I hate it when guys short their talent.
He’s physically capable of scoring some huge upsets against guys no one thinks he has a chance against. Unfortunately, he is just as capable of losing to a guy everyone thinks he will demolish.
VERY inconsistent fighter.
I just cant get my hopes up anymore… more “blue chip” propsects seem to fizzle and burn than not. I didnt even think much of jon jones until he manhandled Hamill the way he did.
everyone is talking about Dream’s troubles but Sengoku isnt enjoying a picnic on either.

So are you saying MMA is declining, because wouldn’t that be the effect of fizzling prospects?

I cant say in general. Im saying more like I get high on a certain someone and it’s a fizzle. has more to do with me than the general landscape. I just let nature do its thing now and the cream emerges.
I think in general the talent levels are really going up. And that’s going to be a challenge for Zuffa because that limits the lifespan of a current star – they become obsolete faster.
Someone like Rampage you invest in for years and with all the new talent coming up he’s just begun getting into his stride as a draw.
The boom in talent evolution will eventually get to a critical mass maybe in around 20 years once the kids who are training mma today and who started at an early age grow up… then it will evolve slowly over time form there.
How inconsistent can a guy be when he is 20 - 2 with 18 first round finishes?
Plus, one of his two losses was a DQ
He will be fighting in the upcoming season of Bellator again.
by Horselover Fat on Feb 15, 2011 9:40 AM EST up reply actions
thats right I forgot about that
I wonder if the UFC has ever tried to get him?
I have no idea. But I like him too, very legit skills and entertaining to watch, would be cool to see him in UFC or SF after this Bellator tournament.

Great signing by the UFC, gives them more depth in the div.
Any word on if Sandro or Hioki could be leaving SRC?
Hioki is the one guy in Japan right now I wish the UFC signed.
Well, it's about time!
I am kind of amazed that it took this long for the UFC or Strikeforce to move in on this guy. Honestly, I thought he would of made a great addition to the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix (i.e. instead of Barnett).
His contract problems with Bellator held him up for 2 years

Why would you want to sign a guy who Hioki clearly beat over Hioki himself? That doesn’t even take into account the fact that Sandro is teammates with the current UFC champ and won’t fight him.
Signing Hioki should be the top priority.

That hasn’t been “true” for a couple years.
Also, Renzo didn’t give Nelson his black belt based on him training in his back yard. Neither Nelson or Herman are home-trained. For a while Herman was even doing gi classes several times a week.
Both Nelson and Herman have chosen a really strange way of selling themselves but people apparently believe it and it gets people talking, so what do I know.

Because now we’ve got a lot of talented guys coming over to the big shows. It’s great.
I’m a fan of MMA because I like to see the best guys fight the best guys…I don’t want guys kept from competing with each other because of promotional boundaries.

Broughton is a good first fight for Herman. It is two Heavyweights prospects fighting each other early on, but a loss shouldn’t push any of these two that far back this early in their careers. I’ve heard that Herman has problems with motivation in the past, and I hope that signing with the UFC will keep him motivated.
I won't jump off the bandwagon just because you lost.
Love it
The more guys like this the better. Theres room in the HW division for some guys like Pee Wee. Who wouldnt want to see him fight Struve?

Herman has talent, yeah
But him being who he is will prevent him realizing it fully. He’ll be on the same level as a Stefan Struve or maybe less.
