Saturday night proves how fickle MMA fans and media are. Fedor has 28 consecutive wins and he loses two fights in a row, and at 34 the media cries for his retirement... two losses, the first being a fatal mistake and the second a loss to a much larger and underrated opponent whose most recent loss was ironically to the same man who gave Fedor his first real defeat.
I could go on and on about how this loss doesn't meant Fedor is done, we saw him mounted taking punishment for 4 minutes and he remained resilient and attempted a submission. This isn't a case of luck running out or age catching up... this is simply an inevitable part of the fight game. In a sport where every minor incident is blown out of proportion I expected nothing less than this reaction, but I wholeheartedly disagree.
