Fedor Emelianenko had lost his last fight. Ten years earlier he'd lost by a cut. Tonight he took the first beating of his MMA career on Showtime's Strikeforce: Fedor vs Silva. Antonio Silva used his fifty pound size advantage to blast and pummel Fedor Emelianenko for two rounds. Fedor was fighting for an ankle lock in the final seconds of the fight but the doctors stopped it between rounds because Emelianenko's right eye was swollen shut.
Silva fired the first punch, missd and landed a leg kick. Then Fedor began to fire hooks and caught Silva. The next time Fedor launched an attack, Silva countered. Fedor landed again and Silva pushed him back against the cage. The crowd chanted "Fedor! Fedor!" Then ref Dan Miragliotta restarted the action. Fedor fired wildly with punches but Silva countered him with a sharp jab to the nose. Silva then bullrushed Fedor into the fence again. Silva fired uppercuts then attacked for a double leg take down. Fedor went for a guillotine and Silva launched him into the air. But Fedor landed on top. He followed Silva down and landed from the top. Silva kicked to his legs and Fedor dived into his half guard., landing rights. Then Fedor went for a kimura. They stood up and Silva attacked, landing a hard punch to the face. Silva forced Fedor back against the cage and they traded hard punches. Silva outscored Fedor standing then took him down to cinch the round.
Silva immediately shot in and took Fedor down to open the second round. He quickly advanced to half guard. Fedor landed rabbit punches to the head. Silva reared back and landed hard shots from the top. Silva took side control then moved to north-south. Then around to the other side, knee on belly and mount. Silva landed brutal punches and forced Fedor to roll. Silva went for a rear naked choke but Fedor rolled back to his back. More sledge hammers from Silva's ham sized fists. Silva pounded away at Fedor's face. Then when the ref wouldn't stop the beating, Silva went for an arm triangle choke. Fedor didn't tap. And rolled out of the hold! Silva retained half guard. Slva looked at the clock and seemed visibly gassed. Silva began to land more punches from the top position. Silva then rolled for a knee bar. Fedor rolled out and went for an ankle lock. Silva waved it off and Fedor attacked the ankle desperately but had nothing.
The doctors stopped the fight after the second round.
Silva advances to the semi-final round of the Strikeforce eight man heavyweight tournament. No word on what Fedor will do next. The tournament also features Sergei Kharitonov who beat Andrei Arlovski earlier tonight. The other contestants include Alistair Overeem, Josh Barnett, Brett Rogers, Antonio Silva and Fabricio Werdum.
