Sources have informed BloodyElbow.com that MMA legend, Frank Shamrock, will be cornering Brian Ebersole next weekend at UFC 140 for his fight with Claude Patrick.
This won't quite be the first time Shamrock has stepped foot in the Octagon since 1999 when he defeated Tito Ortiz to retain his UFC middleweight (200 lb, now light heavyweight) championship.
(Note from Kid Nate: Frank actually commentated on many fights for the UFC after his 'retirement', but this will be his first Octagon appearance in a long while.)

That's a huge shit.

Frank was Brian's first main MMA coach
Some of Brian’s funky grappling can be attributed to time spent with Frank Shamrock, who learned a lot form his brother Ken, and Minoru Suzuki, a founder of Pancrase and student of Karl Gotch.

thanks
i had no idea they had trained together. the problem i have with Frank is that even though i’m a huge fan of his, i can’t help but shake the feeling that he doesn’t care about MMA unless it relates to HIM. i hope he’s not using Ebersole here.

Wouldnt want to see Tito take that win
Frank’s body is broken, Tito is a big LHW, he would win for sure.

I really, REALLY, like Frank.

UFC are scumbags at times though
When they did the Machida/Jones preview
They mentioned Chuck defended the title 5 times?
What about Shamrock and Ortiz.. didnt they both defend it 5 times as well?

does ebersole not like dana?
because this is a move that seems to be designed specifically to piss dana off. i, for one, love it.

Frank didn’t win the UFC title against Tito. He was the long time champion. He also commentated regularly for the group. That was not his last time at a UFC event or in the Octagon.
