Johny Hendricks knocks out Jon Fitch at :12 in the first round.
Johny Hendricks landed a left hand to the jaw and dropped Jon Fitch. A follow up shot put Fitch out and referee Steve Mazzigatti stopped the fight. After the call Fitch was trying to take down the Maz, totally unaware that the fight was stopped. This was the biggest win of Johny Hendricks' career and the replay shows Jon Fitch going stiff from the follow up shot. Fitch was widely considered the number two welterweight in the world. Johny Hendricks was very emotional in the post-fight interview with Joe Rogan. This was Jon Fitch's second loss in the UFC and his comeback fight from shoulder surgery.
Jon Fitch entered the fight 23-3-1 in his career and 13-1-1 in the UFC. His fight with B.J. Penn went to a draw. Johny Hendricks came into the fight with Jon Fitch 6-1 in the UFC and 11-1 overall.

Fitch got knocked out in 12 seconds. GSP is exposed.
Actually it does matter. Lazy humor gets no bonus points.
However, GSP couldn’t finish Fitch. Just like he didn’t finish Hardy, Kos, Shields, etc. So there is truth to that statement in general.

this is MMA, but how does that happen? How does this man survive the likes of Thiago Alves, GSP, BJ Penn, all these incredibly top notch bastards, but gets knocked out in 12 seconds by Johnny Hendricks? This really is the most unpredictable sport in the entire world.

Thank you Mr Hendrick for knocking out Fitch. I respect Fitches work ethic and his relentless work effort but I did NOT want to see him fight for a title. I am not interested in seeing him fight EVER! until tonight. I feel bad for him but I’m just not a fan of fighters that choose to fight safe. I’m waiting for someone to do the same to GSp. I’m a happy girl tonight, thanks Johnny!

Of course you do. Diaz can’t stop the takedown.
Beyond that, Fitch looked rusty. He stayed out at striking distance when he knew his best shot was in the clinch, working takedowns. You can’t make dumb mistakes like that against a power puncher. Give him a few months and he’ll be back once he’s worked off the rust.

I’ve been on the Johny Hendricks train since UFC 107, people talk ish when I bring up he is #8 on Sherdog rankings and only #17 on SB / USA Today. Hendricks is a beast and is only getting better. A wrestler with KO power like Ellenberger. I’d like to see Hendricks get the next crack at the interim strap after Diaz/Condit, or a #1 contender fight in March/April for that next crack

That was a bitter sweet outcome...
Bitter because I used to be a Fitch fan till he seemed to have decided that he would rather win, then that even the smallest risk to win with a finish. Though sweet because I’m a Hendricks fan and he got a big win tonight.
I literally spent the whole walkout telling my casual friends about what a Fitching was
They were extremely disappointed by the knockout. /facepalm
