Former WEC bantamweight champion Miguel Torres has been brought back into the UFC. He had been released earlier this month following an unfortunate tweet that got him in hot water with UFC president Dana White. White announced the move in the media scrum after today's UFC 141 pre-fight press conference:
"Torres handled his business like a man and no one told him to do it."
White also stated that Torres had volunteered at local rape centers, and also made donations. Dana said he's also attended sensitivity classes.
Torres sent out a tweet about three weeks ago that said 'If a windowless van was called a surprise van, more people wouldn't mind going for rides in them."Everyone likes surprises." This came right after another rape-related tweet by Forrest Griffin and a reference to the Penn State scandal by Rashad Evans. White stated that Torres' situation was very different from the other two, and chose to terminate his contract with the promotion. But the 31-year-old was given a reprieve, and will likely be back in the octagon soon.
