The UFC has begun fleshing out the card for their return to Sydney, Australia on March 3rd, which will feature the opening round of the inaugural flyweight tournament. In addition, the promotion has now added a middleweight bout between Court McGee and Constantinos Philippou, while MMA Weekly reports that a light heavyweight contest between James Te Huna and Aaron Rosa will also be on the card.
McGee won the 11th season of The Ultimate fighter by choking out Kris McCray, and has remained undefeated in his UFC career since then. Most recently, "The Crusher" took a unanimous decision over Dongi Yang at UFN 25 in New Orleans. The Matt Serra and Ray Longo-trained Philippou, has put his boxing skills on display in three fights now, with wins in the last two, including a brutal KO of Jared Hamman at UFC 140 last month.
Te Huna is an Australia resident and has only gone to a decision once in his 18-fight career. Although he has sandwiched two wins around a loss, that loss was to rising prospect, Alexander Gustafsson, and the most recent win was a violent knockout against Ricardo Romero back in September. Aaron Rosa was underwhelming in his UFC debut, getting TKOd by Joey Beltran, but after cutting down to his more regular weight of 205 lbs, the Texas native found success with a decision win over Matt Lucas at UFC on Fox 1.
Here's how the UFC on FX 2 card is shaping up:
-Martin Kampmann vs. Thiago Alves
-Ian McCall vs. Demetrious Johnson - flyweight tournament semifinal
-Joseph Benavidez vs. Yasuhiro Urushitani - flyweight tournament semifinal
-Court McGee vs. Constantinos Philippou
-James Te Huna vs. Aaron Rosa
