UFC 141 live and FREE on xbox live

I just ordered UFC 141 for free on Xbox live through the new UFC app. I just figured I would save some people 60 bucks. Its on the front page of the dashboard so check it out xbox users. My guess is the UFC is gauging how many people would be willing to watch via xbox. Whatever the reason, I say jump on this opportunity to see these two monsters pound each other's face in for free.

*update: Looks like they were only doing a few thousand and they are now sold out. Guess I turned my xbox on just in time.

I watch UFC events on my xbox through ESPN anyway but its cool for you guys. Hopefully they wil continue this for a while

It’s region locked. Only offered in SD. Videos on the app don’t work yet, only the fight pick feature is working

The HD stream looks great

I was fortunate enough to see the last two ppv’s through the beta test. The HD stream looked amazing. Also you can “zoom out” after the fight during the ppv for a picture in picture window and see fight stats, which was pretty awesome. The weigh ins looked good too – however the other content (interviews, etc) looked pretty crappy.

They’ve actually showed back to the maynard/edgar card for free because they’re testing to make sure everything runs smoothly…so this is great that its been for free…i made it back home in time to see frank mir break nogiera’s arm…its like having a dvr lol…i rewinded all the way back to hominick getting knocked out…its real smooth…so instead of charging these events to your cable bill you can just use a credit card through xbox live…

I just downloaded it and go the ppv. It looks like they still charge tax though but that’s no big deal. I like the rest of the stuff on the app too especially where you pick who you thinks gonna win the fights.

I got it before it sold out and I had no idea. I went on so I could put in my Undisputed 3 Alpha code, and I saw it in the top right.

Well, on Twitter they did establish that it was just 25,000 free PPVs. Not so much on the actual advertisement though.

3 hours, and 25,000 PPVs were taken. Free shit will always go fast, but I think the in your face availability on Xbox Live will lead to quite a few purchases being made from here on.

But, for me, especially if I’m not watching with a group of friends, commenting here is half the fight-watching experience for me. Being a full minute behind would be a huge blow to that. If it were a situation where I was getting it for a party, then year, just staying off the blogs would be no problem

This may already be obvious to everyone else, but I had a revelation while thinking about this. I thought to myself, “Why would the UFC give away over $600k (~50% of $49.99 × 25,000) just to get people to download their XBOX app?” My first instinct was that they were trying to expand their marketing to the “gamer” community, but then I realized that they’ve already got a pretty good handle on that demographic.

Then it occurred to me: there must be some sort of advantage to getting people to order through XBOX instead of their cable provider. I would wager money that there is a MUCH better revenue split for the UFC for PPVs purchased through the XBOX app than there is through your local cable provider. I’m all like Archimedes in his bathtub.
