Gina Carano Poses for GQ Magazine - Snapshot of the Day

Gina Carano hasn't been in the cage for a while now, but she's still drawing a lot of attention from a lot of mainstream outlets. The popular fighter turned actress is featured on the January 2012 issue of GQ to promote her new movie, Haywire, which comes out next month.

Here are a few quotes from her on that article:

In person, Carano, who has the equivalent of a master's degree in punching, is surprisingly gentle. "I am not a violent person." she insists, "I actually don't like to hurt people." So why do it? "I like fighting," she says, "because it's honest."

...

"The guys I date usually want to test my strength and wrestle around," she says, laughing. "By the end of the day, they're drenched in sweat" Poor guys. That sounds just awful.

Check out the bigger and un-cropped version after the jump.

That wasn't what I was saying at all.

I’m just annoyed that somebody who hasn’t had a fight in two years is playing it up like they’re still in the trenches. I understand that she was good looking, for a fighter. In the grand scheme of things, she’s a pretty, but average looking woman.

As an actress, she’s not as good looking, or as talented as many of the other women who generally fill the roles she will get typecast into, based on her history as a fighter. I’d much rather see Angelina Jolie or Michelle Rodriguez in a movie than Gina, if only because they are actual actors.

by Warbreezy on Dec 18, 2011 11:10 PM EST up reply actions

I don't care who you lust after.

Much the same way I don’t care about gamers slobbering over average looking gamer girls. Somebody sharing the same interest as you is a big turn on. I’m more annoyed with the fact that somebody who hasn’t had a fight in over two years can even be considered relevant as a fighter, let alone use it for publicity, without everyone laughing at her.

by Warbreezy on Dec 18, 2011 11:20 PM EST up reply actions

I have nothing against her as a person.

I just find weird that somebody who is basically retired, to dress up as the sexy fightin’ girl, for promotional purposes. It just got under my skin a bit.

by Warbreezy on Dec 18, 2011 11:41 PM EST up reply actions

Just take it easy.

Look at it from the bright side: she’s an MMA spokesperson now. She’s basically campaigning and bringing attention to the fact that she was a fighter. Were it not for MMA, she wouldn’t be where she is at, right now, and she’s always been a super swell girl in that regard, giving credit where credit is due.

She’s not taking from MMA—she’s giving back to it. Think of her as a magnum version of any o the ring girls, now. I think that’s just damn sweet, if you ask me.

The Internets: Where there are no girls and men become children.

by Unabomberman on Dec 18, 2011 11:49 PM EST up reply actions

I'll agree to that.

But I don’t think my original point was that harsh. I just said that her looks are a little overrated(as would be any good looking female who takes part in a male dominated activity) and that I don’t care to see her in movies, because there are much better women for the jobs.

by Warbreezy on Dec 18, 2011 11:54 PM EST up reply actions

This is all relative and your opinion. You’re entitled to it, no doubt and can react accordingly. But, you can’t speak in absolutes. Some of us find her extraordinarily attractive. Some, including an extremely talented director, wanted to see her in the role she is playing in Haywire. You may not. Cool. But, we don’t all have to get in line with your way of thinking on this.
Also, you might want to take into consideration two things. First, you haven’t seen Haywire and have no clue what her talents are. Second, she was scheduled to fight this year and had to pull out at the last minute for health reasons. She didn’t fight but she put in a full training camp this year and has not announced retirement. Let’s see what happens on both fronts before we make absolute, declarative statements.

It's that the world is basically a forced labor camp from which the workers, perfectly innocent, are led forth by lottery, a few each day, to be executed.

I might have been overzealous with the retirement shit.

And, I’m not saying that everybody has to agree with me. I argue because I like to, not because I’m emotionally invested in swaying people to my side. You’re free to have your opinion, as am I, even if it’s contrarian. I’m still going to fight you about it lol.

The thing is that you are being “that guy” or coming off that way at least. What I mean is that person who is downplaying what everyone else is hyping up. It’s your opinion for sure, and if you find her average-looking, than that’s your opinion, but to talk about it when everyone else finds Gina attractive makes it come off like you’re “that guy.”

Its all business at the end of the day. What constitutes successful MMA is what a promoter can successfully sell to MMA fans as MMA. Gina Carano in a lingerie and pretending she is still in the trenches of WMMA has absolutely nothing to do with MMA in a lot of people’s standards of MMA, but to deny it is MMA is to deny what pro MMA really is.

I’m convinced the scarring on her left arm is the reason she withdrew from Strikeforce Dallas. It’s about an 8 inch scar from her wrist to elbow joint. Doesn’t look like a surgical scar. Way too wide and uneven for a surgeon’s work. …….. but wow, what a rack on her.

It has to be, she never had that before. It looks like a pretty severe cut. Couple that with private matters for pulling out of some fights, and I’m left pretty confused. I wonder what happened?

I looked everywhere and all I could find was others asking the same question, then people asking “woah dude how’d you notice that scar, look at those tits” etc

Now I’m curious.

see how the scar starts and stops? It’s really uneven… the wound has considerable scar tissue around it… that’s not a surgical scar. Surgical scars look like little lines.

That is not self mutilation

That scar is most likely surgical, self mutilation scars do not generally go the length of the arm, a right handed person generally goes perpendicular to the direction of the arm. Further more, the a “cutter” will perform smaller cuts as the intent is to “release” psychological pain with various cuts.

Nerd. We see boobs, you see this:

Another possibility is that we are “stuck” in a 3+1 dimensional (three spatial dimensions plus one time dimension) subspace of the full universe. Properly localized matter and Yang-Mills gauge fields will typically exist if the sub-space-time is an exceptional set of the larger universe. These “exceptional sets” are ubiquitous in Calabi–Yau n-folds and may be described as subspaces without local deformations, akin to a crease in a sheet of paper or a crack in a crystal, the neighborhood of which is markedly different from the exceptional subspace itself. However, until the work of Randall and Sundrum, it was not known that gravity too can be properly localized to a sub-spacetime. In addition, spacetime may be stratified, containing strata of various dimensions, allowing us to inhabit a 3+1-dimensional stratum — such geometries occur naturally in Calabi–Yau compactifications. Such sub-spacetimes are D-branes, hence such models are known as brane-world scenarios.

Personally

I’m quite fond of the conjecture that our spatial 3 dimensional universe is an image that exists as what could be described as a holographic projection of a spatial 2 dimensional universe. Of course, as with all grand models of the universe, it’s the kind of conjecture that also poses a significant amount of fundamental problems.

i think it's a dog bite scar

it looks pretty huge and gnarly, and i know she has pitts…i believe she’s said they’re docile, but who knows…but a bigass scar like that and i’m sure had to be stitched up which is why left such a huge and “not smooth” scar as everyone is saying surgical.

it’s not like she went in for planned surgery, seems like that arm was ripped/busted open and that’s the best they could get it closed w/o plastic surgery. there’s tiny smaller scars next to it too. either that or a bad glass cut from the move. pretty gnarley and thick looking.

but i still love her w/ it.
