That’d be a great fight and a great test for El Nino.

Why not just bring Melendez over to the Ufc?

A sharp Guillard would embarrass Gil

I think any top 10 lightweight in the UFC would make for a great challenge for El Nino. Whether they’d win is another story.

Jim Miller has a better chin and is probably a better grappler. I got him winning personally.

You mean vs Gilbert?

Because if you’re saying he’s “probably a better grappler” than Guillard I need to post a crazy “WTF” face pic ASAP.

Anyway, as far as JM vs GM goes

It’d be a good fight. Miller’s BJJ is superior but Gilbert is fast and hard to take/keep down. As for the fight that’s actually happening: I’m reserving judgement on Miller vs Guillard; we all know Guillard hits like a truck but could be subbed by an unruly sweater but this is definitely an interesting fight.

So the notion that Miller is a better grappler is absurd, yet you admit that Guillard is extremely submittable?

by discoandherpes on Dec 19, 2011 10:33 AM EST up reply actions

No I meant the use of "probably" was WTF.

Okay, that makes sense

I just say probably just because MMA is so unpredictable it covers my ass if Guillard does some crazy shit and taps him with a flying omoplata or something.

by discoandherpes on Dec 20, 2011 8:04 AM EST up reply actions

If Guillard has made some changes

He takes this. If he looks like he did vs. Lauzon, he gets smashed. He needs to mix his wild power and style with something that’s actually pretty easy to do, keeping his damn hands up. His TDD is other-worldly, and as long as he’s smart, the fight shouldn’t hit the mat. I know Jim Miller has a great chin, but a Guillard combo could have his brain rolling out of his ear if he’s not careful. I like both guys, but I like Guillard a little more, and ultimately think it’s his fight to win.
