Strikeforce Melendez Vs. Masvidal Results: Gegard Mousasi Decisions OSP

Gegard Mousasi

Gegard Mousasi defeated Ovince St. Preux by Unanimous Decision with all three judges scoring the fight 29-28.

The first round started with St. Preux landing a leg kick. Mousasi landed several punches. He opened up with a leg kick and it obviously bothered St. Preux. St. Preux's leg kick was blocked and Mousasi took OSP to the ground. Once on the ground Mousasi worked from high half guard and landed several elbows. OSP powered and looked to have scrambled out but Mousasi forced the fight back to the ground. Mousasi passed to side control and began to work for a kimura. OSP escaped and gained top control. Mousasi hit a sweep and closed the round raining down punches from the crucifix.

OSP opened the second round with a lazy shot and Mousasi tripped him to the ground. Mousasi stacked OSP and passed to half guard. Gegard landed several elbows that opened up a small cut on Ovince St. Preux's face. Gegard landed multiple punches while the referee warned of a stand up. Mousasi lands even more punches and the ref stands them up. Mousasi caught a St. Preux knee and tried to get the takedown. OSP ended up on top and passed to side control. The ref is threatening OSP with a stand up while he works from side control. Mousasi scrambled and got back to his feet. The round ended with Mousasi sprawled out after a lazy St. Preux shot.

Mousasi opened the final round with a leg kick and then clinched against the fence. Gegard took Ovince down and then transitioned to his back. OSP scrambled and muscled a takedown. He passed to side control and started throwing punches to the head. The ref threatened another stand up and OSP got mount and started to throw punches. Mousasi scrambled out and got his own takedown. Mousasi worked from half guard and attempted a pass to arm bar when the referee threatened a stand up. OSP rolled and ended the fight on top and working for a guillotine choke.

Gegard Mousasi entered the fight with Ovince St. Preux after a draw in his fight with Keith Jardine. He is likely in talks for the Strikeforce light heavyweight title. Ovince St. Preux is still a prospect and failed in his shot to move from prospect to legit elite talent.

New drinking game

Take a shot everytime the broadcasters called Ovince St. Preux St. Pierre or GSP…you’ll be on the floor before the end of the fight!!!

that is really bad broadcasting

I am willing to test myself against the toughest fighters in the world, in front of hundreds of thousands or even millions of fans, over and over again. Sometimes I win, sometimes I lose, but I always come to fight. I've been doing this for the past fourteen years, and I have at least a few more strong years left in me. What have you done in the past fourteen years other than act like a moron on this forum and hang on Anderson's nuts? - Dan Henderson.

OSP is nothing special. He looked talented, but sloppy and inexperienced.

If mousasi was half the fighter he was advertised to be, he would have killed this kid, not given up full mount once and looked over matched other times.

Mousasi didn’t control the whole fight, but he never looked overmatched. OSP got a couple good positions for a few seconds that he did nothing with. The rest was all Mousasi. Especially the first round, that’s got to be a 10-8.

10-8s

Are VERY rare. Def not gonna be given for that 1st round. Noway.

Stephan Bonnar got one for failing to arm triangle Kyle Kingsbury, Shogun didn’t get one for punching Dan Henderson in the face for five minutes. They aren’t so much rare as random.

I'm tellin' you, you go out these days and see the crack of a young lady's butt. It's crazy, man. They should be locked up for indecent exposure. Look here. See? Suspenders! And a belt! I ain't takin' no chances."

Mousasi a top LHW for the first 3+ mins of a fight then he falls 10 spots in the rankings every round there after. This man needs to move out of the basement and move to a real mma gym . The days of training with his brother and his friends in there basement need to come to a end. He needs to eather start taking MMA serious. He looked horrible in that fight and this is becoming a ongoing thing now with Gegard. If the fight goes over a round he just gasses and looks like a totaly different fighter. It was pathetic

Gegard under the direction of Greg Jackson would be quite the combination.

Gregard Mousackson?

He claimed to have wised up and moved his training on from the days of ‘friends in the basement’ after his loss to Gono. It’s true, I’ve seen the footage. They train in a converted office now.

I was happy to see that Mousasi looked to have been working on his offensive and defensive wrestling. OSP just looked inexperienced, but he still got some dominant positions over a veteran fighter, and I feel that OSP has some potential to be pretty good. Mousasi did look good at times, but there were other times like missing the trip takedown and landing on the bottom in half guard that made him look not so good.

exactly cris and thats stuff he can not do against top 205ers. The one time he had a body lock went for the takedown and instead of getting the takedown he landed on bottom and OSP landed in mount almost and then finally got the mount, It was somethinig you would see new fighters do in some regional mid west show
