Ricardo Funch Replaces Paulo Thiago, Will Face Mike Pyle at UFC 142

With Brazilian Paulo Thiago being forced out of his UFC 142 fight with Mike Pyle, the UFC had to go out and find a replacement. Instead of plucking someone off the current roster, they reached into the past to a degree. MMA Fighting has the news:

In addition, the UFC Brazil Twitter account also announced that Ricardo Funch, who was released from the organization in 2010, has agreed to replace Paulo Thiago against Mike Pyle at the same event.

Funch, who is a member of Team Link along with another recent UFC returnee Gabriel Gonzaga, was released by the UFC following an 0-2 stint in 2009-2010. He has competed just once since then, picking up a decision win over Ryan Quinn on a Northeast local card two weeks ago. Pyle is looking to rebound from his first-round TKO loss to Rory MacDonald at UFC 133. He had won three in a row before that bout.
