Junie Browning Phuket Brawl Update: Browning Gives His Side of the Story

Photo

Earlier this week we shared a report that former UFC fighter Junie Browning was the subject of a manhunt after a brawl in Phuket. The original report stated that he also allegedly beat up a woman that evening.

Browning has taken to his Facebook to plead for the American Embassy to get involved:

Im officially the biggest American patriot there is now. These other primitive countries are all about money, mafia and corrupt law enforcement. Regardless what you believe I never touched a female in theses events that occurred and my girlfriend was there from start to finish to vouch. Hitting Thai women was an excuse for them to demonize me and get some baht out of me. You all don't understand with my name, people will use it against me. I acted like an idiot on a reality show for publicity so they are using that against me. Im sorry and I care about people more than you thank and I appreciate all the support from the intelligent people that understand that these primitive countries are trying to kill me ( Literally ) . I need help BAD! please call the US Embassy in my regards. Thank you very much everyone.

Apparently in the news story I fled the scene in the hospital before the police got there. It's obvious by this picture that the police were already there. It wasn't until hours later my girlfriends and my phone were flooded with phone calls saying that the Thai mafia were headed to the hospital to kill me did we leave. We understood that it is a very corrupt place so we had to flee and get in contact with the US Embassy. Funny how cropping a photo changes the whole story.

I'm sure we're a long way from this all being resolved. We'll continue to bring updates as they're made available by either media sources we can hold accountable or individuals we can confirm were involved in the situation.

I tend to believe Junie more than I do Thai cops or other stories

I hear plenty of stories from people who live in southeast Asia and basically get farked if they are in trouble somehow. As much of a… character that Browning is, I tend to lean towards his side in this, especially seeing how cops were there.

Thai "justice" is anything but

I’ve read some truly horrific stories about the prisons and the court system. One event that sprung to mind was a guy who was thrown in jail for contempt of court because he TURNED THE WRONG WAY to fave the judge (turning his back to a portrait of the king in the process). One reason I have absolutely no desire to visit.

Hmmm...

I hear far more stories of corruption & general unlawfulness than I do hear of people “never having a problem”.

Not saying anything is true or not, but the scales definitely seem to be tipped towards people really, really getting taken advantage of while over there. I mean, if the tales were 1:1 or so, then I could maybe see this is a character like Browning acting like a tool (regardless, he might have been), but seriously… 1 person NEVER having a problem over there vs MANY, MANY going through hell & back does not lend credibility to the statement that problems only arise from “really dumb, belligerent foreigners”; there’s always an exception to the rule.

I dunno… I could be wrong. :)

No one tells a story about "no problems"

I’ve spent many years in Thailand. Be smart and you don’t get in trouble just like USA or anywhere else.

by Arca MMA on Dec 15, 2011 5:31 PM EST up reply actions

Well...

you are not a loud mouth American Thai Fighter who could have possibly cost the “mafia” a shit ton of cash by knocking some one out… Who knows man… My friends have traveled there and say that there is most def a ton of shady dealing going on, especially if you keep the sort of company we can assume Junie Keeps.

by Chuntsman949 on Dec 15, 2011 5:21 PM EST up reply actions

Well, don't break the law anywhere!

But in Thailand, punishments that far exceed the crime as well as a corrupt police force warrant extreme caution. Even if old JB used reasonable force to defend himself that the American legal syatem would dismiss, he’s going to have a nightmare of a time in the Thai system with nobody speaking the language and a Byzantine list of rules and procedures that will throw him into jail for even minor infractions.

by ihateemo on Dec 15, 2011 3:24 PM EST via mobile up reply actions

I believe him

As a military member who has deployed to the Philippines and Thailand, this story sounds plausible. We had a situation where a team member was accused of brutally murdering one of out drivers. And before we could get him away people he had never seen were coming out of the woodwork demanding money to keep quiet. There are tons of storied of blatant money grabs on famous people or people suspected of having cash

by OneFitchTwoFitchRedFitchBlueFitch on Dec 15, 2011 1:11 PM EST via mobile up reply actions

I believe his side of the story. I’ve heard way too many stories like this from Westerners in Southeast Asia. Hell, even Urijah Faber (check out the YT clip) was in the middle of a gang fight in Thailand where they chased him around with machetes.

seriously if you are that fucked at phuket why are you wasting time blogging and not contacting the US Embassy pronto or at least

the consulate offices. Sheesh grab your US passport and run straight there. You can enter without any problems, that is unless your girlfriend is Thai, with no paperwork and theres no border to cross except LAOS or Cambodia and thus you are screwed

Quite a diffent tone to his latest facebook offering than the one before boasting of breaking orbital bones and leaving folks lying unconscious. Been to Thailand and all over the far east, an ex-pat could be defending himself and still get arrested if things came down to throwing blows. I’ve seen it. No story out there will keep the underworld off him if in fact they have him marked. Only hope is that the US Embassy somehow scoops him straight from police custody. Otherwise.. tuf titty

A friend of mine walked in on a guy trying to rape a girl in a backpackers in Phuket. He busted his jaw and helped the girl out, and ended up being taken to the hospital by the corrupt police and put in the same room as the the guy.

The police demanded that he pay the little rapist 10,000 USD for his injuries. All the guys on the holiday were forced to max credit cards etc to help him out. The money then exchanged hands in the fucking hospital carpak

we might not have any further evidence of what he did, this isn’t the first time he’s been accused of hitting women. what does a guy have to do and how bad does he have to fuck up to have the Thai mafia coming to kill you? another irresponsible dick with the tendencies of a sociopath giving the world a ‘why me?’ attitude. i really hope that he can get to the embassy, because at this point it’s probably the only way there’s any clarification regarding the matter we’ll ever find.
