Amir Khan vs. Lamont Peterson Video: Full Fight Highlights

Last night saw Amir Khan take on Lamont Peterson in Washington D.C. on HBO Championship Boxing. Khan entered the bout as one of boxing's biggest stars and was a huge favorite to retain his 140 pound title before a planned jump to 147 pounds. Bouts with Timothy Bradley and Floyd Mayweather were being talked about for Khan once the seeming formality of beating Peterson was taken care of.

Instead, Peterson turned it into a fight and was able to hit Khan clean with repeated success. Even though he was down in the first round, Peterson came back strong and turned what was expected to be a blowout into a late fight of the year contender.

Khan would be deducted two points somewhat controversially for using his forearm to push off. The ref warned him multiple times but Khan continued to do it which resulted in a first deduction. Khan continued to push off which led to a second point deduction in the final round.

In the end Peterson took a very narrow split decision which sets up a rematch with Khan claiming that it was home cooking for Lamont.

As a DMV native I’m more upset at the brand new Lamont Peterson fans that have come out the woodwork in the past 14 hours.

I was in rage mode all night adn took my anger out on scrubs in UMvC3 simply for the 2 points deducted from Amir Khan. What you do to someone that’s bullrusing with their head the entire fight, I don’t know. But I didn’t like the call. After seeing the Compubox numbers though, i can clealy see a good argument on why Peterson won the fight.

As for me, I gotta deal with the slew of fans that are gonna invite him to Stadium Nightclub and post him on flyers and posters and a ridiculous amount of pictures of 8 niggas around Peterson with his belts.

Horrible sour grapes from Khan. Oscar De La Hoya has never accepted defeat with grace or dignity. Not only do Golden Boy bitch like women when things don’t go their way, they’ve ruined ‘The Ring’ magazine by sacking pro writers and replacing them with internet bloggers.

They are sour grapes

But I think they are legit complaints. I’m definitely excited for the rematch and to see if Khan can learn how to deal with these kind of “make it ugly” fighters.

Sorry. So used to it being home cooking for the European fighters ;)

Never leave it in the hands of the judges.

Whine, whine, whine, fassy

Khan fought dirty and got punished for that

Blaming the ref and the judges is just weak

I thought Peterson took the fight outright, even without point deductions

Sucked Khan into his rhythm and took advantage

Khan wins a rematch I suspect

quick question Brent.

What’s the ultimate goal for boxing on BloodyElbow? I’ve been noticing that’s there an effort to get more coverage of the sport on BloodyElbow and sbnation even sent out Luke to cover the event.

I’m liking the additional coverage but I’m curious as to why the content isn’t being pushed on badlefthook instead of BE. Scott seems to be overworked imo over at BLH and it would just seem that since y’all are all one big team that the work would be posted there instead to help him out.

Agree!

i’m a boxing fan but putting Boxing news on BE seems weird.
Especially when many mma fans don’t know who Khan is.
Or Ron Lyle.
it ends up being a bunch of people faking on the comments, pretending to know boxing.
It’s just weird
