Bellator 58 Ratings Match Season-High With 269,000 Viewers
Bellator got some good news this week as ratings for last Saturday's Bellator 58 garnered a season-high viewership of 269,000, more than twice the number of the week prior and matching their season high.
The show was headlined by Michael Chandler winning the Bellator 155-pound title from Eddie Alvarez in one of the year's best fights. It also featured quick finishes from Marlon Sandro and Middleweight Champion Hector Lombard, along with an exciting women's bout featuring Jessica Aguilar.
The replay numbers for the 9 PM EST airing even beat the season-low 129,000 viewers from Bellator 57, drawing another 160,000. The original airing was at 7 PM EST to avoid going head-to-head with UFC 139.
The 269,000 viewers match the October 1st Bellator 52 event which featured four heavyweight tournament quarterfinal bouts. Over 10 events this season, Bellator has averaged just over 178,000 viewers. Their final show is this Saturday with the heavyweight and bantamweight tournament finals.

so
as many people watched this as rua/henderson?
i know it’s free tv vs. ppv, and so basically meaningless, and a million people watched the ufc prelims on spike, but that’s still kind of interesting.
No.
Number of viewers is not the same thing as number of pay-per-view buyers. More people watched Rua-Henderson.

I do it all the time
And if the liveblogs around here are any indication, it’s not that uncommon.

Question.
Can the same be said for Bellator? For example, I had 5 people come to my house to watch the UFC, however I advised them to show up at 4pm PST to catch the live Bellator fights. So in my household, the same number of people watched both the UFC and the Bellator fight, not to mention Chavez Jr/Manfredo Jr on HBO.

I just watched that fight for the first time
Just awesome. I hope Spike can do something with Bellator, because the product is often excellent.

Awesome is an understatement
I watched it live and I’ve probably watched it 3 or 4 more times since, and I swear I almost expect to see Eddie win it each time I watch.
The great thing is that Bellator has posted the full video online for free. Talk about generating some goodwill and excitement for their next season. It’ll be interesting to see if there’s any carryover in the ratings this weekend.
