Kamal Shalorus will return to the cage for the first time in 10 months when he faces Russian Combat Sambo champion Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC on FX 1. Nurmagomedov signed a six-fight deal with the UFC last week. UFC.com has the news:
"Undefeated Russian fighter Khabib Nurmagomedov has verbally agreed to make his UFC debut against powerful wrestler Kamal ‘Prince of Persia’ Shalorus January 20 in Nashville," said UFC President Dana White.
Nurmagomedov, a 23-year-old who is undefeated in his career at 16-0, recently joined AMA Fight Club in New Jersey and will prepare for his bout with a camp that includes the Miller brothers and Charlie Brenneman. Nurmagomedov competed seven times in 2011 and finished all of them.
Shalorus is best-known for his WEC stint which saw him go 3-0-1. He debuted in the UFC at UFC 126 against Jim Miller, and took the first loss of his career via third-round TKO. Miller will be in the main event of the UFC on FX 1 card, facing Melvin Guillard in a three-round bout.
