UFC 139 Results: Chris Weidman Sinks In D'arce Choke to Beat Tom Lawlor

Stay connected for news and updates

Chris Weidman defeated Tom Lawlor by d'arce choke at UFC 139. It was his third fight in the UFC and seventh win of his career. Tom Lawlor is a Ultimate Fighter veteran with six fights in the octagon.

Chris Weidman came out fast with slick takedown before transitioning to side control. He was a step ahead of Tom Lawlor who was trying to regain half-guard. Weidman was slick with the set up of the d'arce choke, which Lawlor seemed to not recognize until it was too late. Once it was locked in, Tom Lawlor was put to sleep just 2:07 into the first round.

It is Chris Weidman's second straight submission in the UFC after a bloody decision win in his debut over Alessio Sakara. Tom Lawlor's act of being the entertaining fighter at weigh ins and walkous may make him a fan favorite but tonight was his third loss in his past four fights and it's becoming more and more difficult to justify his place in the organization if he can't pick up a win.
