As per usual, Ariel Helwani was able to catch up with UFC President Dana White to get his thoughts leading into the fights this upcoming weekend. Helwani is fortunate with his relationship that he is able to press the president with certain questions that others will be unable to ask. One of them is regarding the lack of press and marketing for UFC events the end of the year. To his credit, White is candid about the reasoning. The shattered relationship with Spike has changed everything and has created a transition period where the UFC is left to their own devices when promoting fights.
White also speaks about his relationship with Dan Henderson. White holds no ill-feeling towards Hendo for leaving the company for Strikeforce. He understands that it was a business decision and it doesn't change his promotion of his fighter.
A nice snippet is that Dana teases that Showtime isn't out of the MMA business yet. While he doesn't elaborate, this gives hope that Strikeforce will continue in some sort of a capacity. He also breaks down the Viacom deal with Bellator and gives some information about UFC on Fox 2 (1?) which won't have a title fight but will have four fights.
