It's two days till UFC 139 and I can just say one thing, I AM FUCKING EXCITED FOR THIS EVENT GUYS. Maybe it's not stacked heavily on starpower like some of the recent events have been, but honestly I haven't been this excited for a UFC event since Chael Sonnen fought Anderson Silva. Every fight on the main card is just ridiculously close and each one has the potential to be just a huge barnburner! Stephan Bonnar vs Kingbury is going to be a full out slobberknocker, Kampmann vs Story is two young fighters fighting to prove they deserve to be ontop of the division, Urijah Faber vs Bowles a number one contender match that is just bound to be a fight hectic paced fight that will engulf the entire octagon despite their stature, a chance for Wanderlei Silva to channel his old fire and to once again have my girlfriend screaming that THIS time for sure someone is really dead.
And finally, the fight I have been waiting for since Dan Henderson knocked out Wanderlei Silva all those years ago. Shogun vs Dan Henderson, two of the hardest hitters and best chins in the game match eachother in a true case of what happens when an unstoppable force meets an unmovable object. I am a proud, unabashed, Dan Henderson nuthugger, and I NEVER have been this nervous coming up to a fight before. Every other fight he has had I have been fully confident that he would leave another ruined body in his wake, but if anyone has the ability to finally KO Dan Henderson Shogun would be he man to do it.
And these nerves are why MMA is the best sport in the entire world. Baseball, football, Rugby, all sports I love, none of these sports leave be a mixture of giddy joy at the idea of my favorite fighter winning again versus that ominous dread that maybe this my fighter finally has bitten off more then he can chew. That no matter how good he is, his opponent just might have his number.
I am excited, brimming with confidence, nervous and terrified all at once and the fight hasn't even started yet. So once again, God I love MMA.
