Report: Robert Peralta To Face Charles Oliveira at UFN 26 on FX in Nashville

Photo

Another bout has been added to the card for the UFC's debut on FX, which now has a date and location according to Yahoo's Steve Cofield: January 20th in Nashville, Tennesee. The match-up will see Robert Peralta welcome Charles Oliveira to the featherweight division, according to Houston-area MMA site, The Cage Door:

Houston based Charles Oliveira, who trains under Gold Team patriarch and Legacy welterweight champion Jorge "Macaco" Patino, has lined up his next UFC opponent. According to sources, Charles will next take on Robert "Problems" Peralta at UFC Fight Night 26 in Nashville, TN on January 20th.

Peralta is fresh off a win over Mackens Semerzier at the UFC on Fox show in Anaheim, but it wasn't without controversy as it was a accidental headbutt that rocked Semerzier and led to Peralta finishing him off. Semerzier is appealing the decision, but it appears Peralta isn't going to wait for a rematch to be scheduled.

Oliveira, once a promising prospect at 155 lbs, now finds himself cutting down in weight after a three-fight winless streak that saw him get submitted by Jim Miller, TKOd by Donald Cerrone, and suffer a no-contest after clocking Nik Lentz with an illegal knee before choking him out.

Robert "Problems" Peralta (16-3)
Win Mackens Semerzier (TKO - UFC on Fox 1
Win Mike Lullo (unam. decision) - UFN 25
Win Hiroyuki Takaya (split decision) - Strikeforce: Daley vs. Diaz
Charles "Do Bronx" Oliveira (14-2)
Loss Donald Cerrone (TKO) - UFC on Versus 5
NC Nik Lentz - UFC on Versus 4
Loss Jim Miller (submission) - UFC 124

The current UFN 26 on FX card:

-Duane Ludwig vs. Josh Neer
-Pat Barry vs. Christian Morecraft
-Robert Peralta vs. Charles Oliveira

That was a good fight

here's a recap of the fight:

Neer and Winsniewski stood in a phone booth and did this to each other over and over and over:

And Wisniewski ended up looking like this:

Wooooooooooo!

I half expect him to do the old man flop.

Absolutely

The dude was kicking Lentz’s ass when so many people thought he’d get wrestlehumped to a decision.

I respect your opinion even though it's wrong.

True, that was brutal matchmaking for a young guy like him. He’ll stick around and do better at 145.

This is shaping up to be one of the best Fight Nights ever.

I’d almost be willing to drive to Nashville to attend if Nashville weren’t Nashville.

I'm just glad this Fight Night so far isn't filled with TUF rejects

But quality gatekeepers and quality prospects.

I respect your opinion even though it's wrong.

by SSreporters on Nov 17, 2011 12:07 PM EST up reply actions

As it should be

That’s the worst thing about TUF is so many scrubs getting main card slots because they were on TV. Despite being fucking awful fighters compared to a lot of the guys shoved onto the undercard.

That's one of the benefits of leaving Spike

They put Amir Sadollah or Mac Danzig on every single main card because Spike/UFC thinks their fanbase is primarily from the TUF market.

I respect your opinion even though it's wrong.

Pretty funny, actually

Two dudes that scored unfortunate wins (one of which was overturned), facing each other. Who will be the first to knee a downed opponent, or score a headbutt?

I don't think Oliveira's was accidental though....

So Peralta for the headbutt.

I respect your opinion even though it's wrong.

Maybe he'll headbutt his knee and break it?

How long is it before RoryMac can fight again?

Because he’s perfect for this type of card.

I respect your opinion even though it's wrong.

LOL
maybe Pat Barry will finally fight with a sense of urgency

This needs to enter the “this time, you guys are going to see the OLD Cro Cop” and “BJ’s in top shape for this fight” pantheon.

Holy shit this is going to be a good card. I’ve been eagerly awaiting UFC’s return to Nashville, the last fight night here was a damn good one as well.

All the main card fights were good except Bader/Marrero

Condit vs. Kampmann is a hidden classic.

UFC doesn’t come to the south much, i am VERY excited about seeing this card. My first ever, bless it.

Size.....

was definitely a problem against Cerrone. He was at least 15 lbs. smaller and got thrown around like a pre-pubescent boy. Hopefully he doesn’t lose much weight and cuts instead.

by jacksiwel on Nov 17, 2011 3:59 PM EST up reply actions

he walked around at about 155 when he was fighting at LW

I dont think cutting weight would be a big problem for him.
