Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez Weigh In Under the Limit

Photo by Ethan Miller for Getty Images

UFC on Fox is a major milestone for MMA, and it could be a huge catalyst that propels the sport into new heights. Velasquez vs. Dos Santos is an excellent match up, but that being said, it definitely won't be the biggest combat sports event on that day. That honor belongs to boxing's mega-fight between Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez, the final bout of their trilogy that has already produced two classic bouts.

As they tipped the scales, both fighters came in below the 144 lb. limit, with Pacquiao coming in at 143, and Marquez at 142 lbs.

Most MMA fans will surely catch the UFC on Fox event, but the option of watching both major fights is available as the two superstars from boxing will meet about an hour after the Cain Velasquez vs. Junior Dos Santos broadcast ends.

As always, for the absolute best coverage on the fight, and boxing in general, head over to our friends at BadLeftHook.com

It looks like JMM’s strength and conditioning training has paid off big time. He looks to be in killer shape.

I'm so excited for this fight

Pacquiao is going to go 3-0. He would’ve won the first fight if one of the judges could count how many knockdowns happened in a single fight.

I respect your opinion even though it's wrong.

single round you mean.

but yeah, that 1st round should’ve been a 10-6, granting Manny the win.

single round* yes

Pacquiao has matured so much from his brawling days when I first saw him (the first Marco Antonio Barrera fight) that I don’t see who he can lose to other than maybe Floyd.

I respect your opinion even though it's wrong.

I agree.

It would be a tough bout, but I would still pick Manny over Floyd though. :)

It’s been a long time since I’ve seen it, but I Marquez won one of those fights personally.

Is it really the biggest combat sports event on Saturday?

Right now it might seem like it, but is anyone really going to look back on the third time that Pacquiao beat Marquez as a game changing one of a kind event? If Velasquez and Dos Santos put on a great fight, it should mean more in the long run.

You might be right, but it’s only because everyone’s still just waiting for Pacman-Mayweather. In a vacuum, Pacquiao’s fight is more important because he’s building on such an incredible legacy, and Marquez is the last fighter to really give him trouble in the ring.

Share for share, share alike, you'll get struck each time I strike.

Is the Pacquiao fight really bigger?

Manny’s great of course, but this doesn’t seem like a megafight to me. It’s not as competitive as Cain vs JDS and HWs have always sold better. It’s also a disappointing match up for Manny obviously.

watching Ariel Helwani's NY questioning tour

many ppl were choosing to watch the manny fight instead of watching a free UFC card.

I am willing to test myself against the toughest fighters in the world, in front of hundreds of thousands or even millions of fans, over and over again. Sometimes I win, sometimes I lose, but I always come to fight. I've been doing this for the past fourteen years, and I have at least a few more strong years left in me. What have you done in the past fourteen years other than act like a moron on this forum and hang on Anderson's nuts? - Dan Henderson.
